Sawyer is one of the most sensitive and caring people on the island, he's so afraid of getting hurt that he's built a manner of coping that keeps people at arms distance and at the same time takes advantage of them -- kinda sealing the deal that they will never care for him. He thinks he keeps himself safe by not investing in relationships... it's what he most dearly wants, he's always wanted to be, to belong... and never trusted enough to give himself that chance.
I think he is mighty uncomfortable being the good guy for altruistic reasons instead of some personal gain... it's a new life lesson for Sawyer... even is some of his motivation feels awkward and put on... he has nothing to gain but feeling uncomfortable in a new role as a kind and supportive Sawyer... kudos to Sawyer for taking the risk and kudos to Hurley for helping him...
Sawyer is a con man, it's all he knows but there is no need for a con man on this island and he, too, like many has to reinvent himself and is fortunate to get new lease on life.
this is my favorite post of the day. you are awesome mindsparkle!

this is my favorite post of the day. you are awesome mindsparkle! It's a very good post. Add to all of that the fact that James Ford knows that he murdered someone in what he thought was a vengeance killing. That's going to mess with the mind of someone who's basically not a bad person, just seriously damaged by the hand he's been dealt. re: Cassidy trying to con Sawyer for child support. She couldn't have known about the money he was going to get while in jail nor would she have had any reason to believe that as a prisoner he would have any prospects regarding child support money. Iirc he completes the con and gets the reward after she tells him about Clem.

Well we all know Sawyer + Cassidy = Baby, so will caged Sawyer + caged Kate = baby? I hope the "Korean vote" didn't use up all those Widmore pregnancy tests.

I didn't even think of the possibility that Kate could've gotten pregnant. I bet we will find out that she is and that is going to be the reason behind Juliet being sent to live with the Losties. They are fertile-others are not.

good point. I have been questioning Juliet and the others actions, as of late. why did Juliet trick Kate? she surely must still have allegiances to the others. why was she "left behind?" Do we really believe she was? For her to be a pre-natal doctor makes perfect sense. she can get get close to those she is trying to alienate. (Claire?, Jin, & maybe Kate?).

I think Cassidy may have just been drinking out of ignorance. 1st pregnancy...doesn't seem highly educated.
Also- I believe that the bank where Kate's airplane was is the same bank where Sayer had Clementine's money put.

I thought Sawyer sent the money to a bank in Alberta, Canada, although I could be wrong. Kate was at a bank in New Mexico.

According to Lostpedia- New Mexico The bank that Kate robs is in Ruidoso. ("Whatever the Case May Be"), ("Exodus, Part 1") Clementine's bank account is created in Albuquerque("Every Man for Himself")

Well, i Have been thinking about this and they may bring it up by Sawyer trying to get Kate back in his good graces. He seemed upset that she left without him, then maybe he will mention his baby. Maybe then he will have one of his snotty remarks and say something like "cassy screwed me over with that one" and kate will be like "WHO?"

I think he will tell Sun. It will be how he gets her to forgive him. He will pour out his emotions about not knowing how great of a father he could have been if he wouldn't have messed up with Cassidy, and then Sun will tell Kate. Kate will then know the whole Sawyer/Cassidy connection and not say anything until the end of the season, just like Jack and Sawyer about Christian.

I hope they use the connection for something, otherwise it was a waste of time.
