NEway....dogs are in tune with stuff like that...they do understand the actions of people....I mean look at Lassie..."go get help boy!" and Lassie could go get help....Vincent was doing the same thing...it was doggiese for "take a closer look before you bury them!"....

I am one to believe that Vincent is just a dog. He is very intuitive, though, even when we see him off the island in flashbacks. Maybe he is .........DUN DUN DUN

They just added Vincent to make this show like all the other great shows in history, i.e. Scooby, the Jetsons, Lassie, Bingo, etc. He is for the viewers who are pet-lovers.

Huh. I thought that was why they added Charlie.

I think Vincent is a harbinger of sorts. Bad things always happen when that dog gets out. Is it the smoke? Possibly. I'll need to research this more, though! In one of the first episodes, I think it is Micheal that says how unlikely it is for the dog to have survived. We've never seen Vincent's cage he must have been in on the plane, but yet, there is the dog, more uninjured than anyone. And if you were a smoke monster, wouldn't a dog be a great cover? No one would suspect a thing, and you can get as close to the Losties as you wanted ie shaggy dog. But smokie seems malicious, almost. Don't know why he would care about the lives of Nikki and Paulo.

I think it's been discussed in many other threads that it's possible Walt wanted Vincent, so the island brought Vincent back to him...I'm sure I just opened up a can or worms again...sorry...

Maybe he didn't care about Nikki and Paulo. Maybe that was his blanket and he wanted it back. LOL

And TPTB said we missed something in the first five minutes of the pilot. The opening seens show Vincent, in the background alot.
Locke is the one that got him because Locke is in touch with the island and Smokey.
I will start it here as i did for Christian.
List of people who believe Vincent equals Smokey.
This is some crazy stuff
add name as need but you will all find out that it is true.

But if smokie is vincent, why does all the other forms he's taken only are seen by one person...but everyone can see Vincent?

Those are manifestations that are put into the peoples brain because thats what they think they see. Kind of like a mirage.
Smokey was seen by Charlie and Eko at the same time. I think Locke might have seen him when he was killing Eko but im not sure.
He uses the body of Vincent to see what is going on without being in smoke form and randomly floating around in the sky.
