the reason he isnt is because the dog was off island with walt. we have never seen the smoke monster off island in any way and i think that is what makes the island so "special"

Ahhh, but we saw the black horse in kates flashback on the island too. I wouldnt be to quick to rule out smokey manifesting himself as Vincent as it seem to be able to take any form it needs to, Animal or Human alike. But agreed the island certainly is "special" |

I think that Walt still has a special connection with Vincent - and I also think that Walt is still capable of appearing on the island (soaking wet and speaking backwards of course!).
So, Walt is showing Vincent certain things who in turn, shows his people (just by being a dog, nothing special)
And I also agree that when he pulled the blanket off N&P he was just being a dog, he knew they were alive when people couldn't tell.

Vincent is not smokey. But he is smarter than half the people on the Island. He just happens to be in crucial places at the right time. I think he was trying his hardest to tell the humans that N/P were alive. Alas, he is just a dog playing tho.

When they do the vincent episode they will show hin underneath with the luggage and when he flies out and hits the ground it will show smokie come rushing toward him then smokey dissapears, and Vincent wakes up next to Jack.
