Does everyone remember how rain storms just occur randomly on the island and they have talked about it before.
Locke talks about hightides and i think rain as well, when he tells Paulo not to bury that there.
Maybe that big rainstorm that we see in the preview while My ladies are fighting, is a huge storm and erodes(sp?) all the sand away. This happens as soon as the show ends.
I have a theory about the rain, and I apologize because this isn't the place to do it, but since it was brought up: I think the rain was a weather experiment and Locke has it figured out. There was an episode, I think with Boone, where Locke knew either the rain was starting or ending, I can't remember. He also sits out in the rain a lot, while other people are in shelter away from it. I realize that in a tropical island such as this, the rain comes in sheets and then just disappears, but Locke really seems to know about its cycle.

I feel like we are not finished when one or both of then yet. There seemed to be a lot of hints that they aren't done yet. Locke's Comments about things not staying buried, that faux TV show stuff about Nikki's character being killed & coming back next season, the Titles of the episode & the faux show ..that whole Expose' thing of uncovering something that is hidden, Vincent trying to expose that they weren't dead...her opening her eyes just as they start tossing dirt....etc. many things seem to point to this story not being over yet. Actually at the end of the show my overwhelming feeling was wait this isn't really over yet it felt unfinished. I actually really enjoyed the episode much to my surprise...I've not ever been a fan of Nikki or Paolo or the lame way they seemed to be foisted on us. In the end I enjoyed the whole Tales from the Crypt-ish roller coaster ride. But I didn't see a lot of connection to the rest of the show.........yet. It's hard to believe TPTB would go to all the trouble of telling that spider tale without any of the info getting to the Losties so for no other reason than so our guys find out about this spider trick I think we'll at least dig them up & find out they were buried alive and see the spider bites or something It seems too weird that the stories won't tie together somehow. I really think Nikki Still isn't dead & just might, one way or another, get out alive. Most Likely Vincent will help we'll see. The actress who plays Nikki was on Jimmy Kimmel after the show aired & she didn't act like she was done with Lost to me no spoiler just a feeling I got. I just don't believe that's the end of that story yet...remember Libby Lingered into the next episode before a teary death (I actually thought they were going to save her) so my luck the Nikkster will live instead.

I think it's safe to say that, since they threw in Locke telling Paulo "Nothing stays buried here," that we will be seeing Nikki and Paulo again. Not that I necessarily want to. Nikki and Paulo are like replacements for Shannon and Boone: pretty but dumb (both of them). Nikki is nice to look at, but I can't stand it when she talks. Paulo is like a walking store mannequin with a similar personality. I could care less if they were involved in a diamond heist intrigue.
Honestly, I think I liked Shannon and Boone more than these two. I remember I was sad when Boone died, and I was outraged when Anna Lucia shot and killed Shannon (I still hate Anna Lucia for this reason). I don't think any viewers cried when Nikki and Paulo "died," except maybe when they learned that they were actually still alive.
Still, how long do you think they can stay buried alive?

Hey, Ana Lucia was misunderstood. But as for Nikki and Paulo, I'd hope to at least see them again in other people's flashbacks, not really on the island again. Nikki was in Sydney for I don't know how long, but seeing as it's Lost we're talking about, she must have had a role another lostie's life.

In reality there is no way they could dig themselves out of that, they were completely paralysed, the feeling would slowly return and by then they would have breathed in too much sand. Besides sand is heavy and they would barley be able to move due to the sheer weight. However, this is Lost and I don't think Nikki is gone for good, hopefully just through flashbacks but she just may return to the island.

Maybe one of the "mystery's" of the island is lite breathable sand.

Could be. All I know is that, in the tradition of Lost, since John noted that nothing stays buried, we will be seeing them again. Maybe not Paulo, who I guess has landed a role on television back in Brazil, but I'm sure Nikki will be back. After all, the show needs a bubbleheaded beauty, and they seem to keep killing those off.

Everyone gets a new life on this island... Locke talking to Shannon in season one. It seems that if you take advantage of your new life, shed the skin of the old, then you do ok (Locke). However, if you are given a glimpse of the soul of the island and turn away from it's offering, then you do so at your own risk. Boone couldn't let go of Shannon and Echo couldn't let go of his brother. Locke, when he gets angry gets a little diplegic. Rose whose faith is strong is healed. Charlie, who put down the smack, is so far still alive.
Now, Nikapo was interesting cause Paulo (I believe) got a glimpse into the soul of the island with that initial 1000 mile stare he had after the crash. Nikki also had a wierd look on her face. If Paulo had simply made a sacrifice back to the island....give up the 8 million in diamonds for your own happiness....then things would have been OK. Nikki and Paulo were seemingly doing great together and Paulo even states that he was glad that they had not found the diamonds as it might have thrown them apart. Of course he was lying and he was, as we find out, acting out of fear. Just let go, trust the island, and things will be OK.

That's a great point. I believe that Paolo really was sincere before the paralysis set in.

Ya, it's a recurring theme.....face your demons, give up your preconceptions, stop being a slave to your past behavior, quit making decisions based upon past bad decisions, don't be greedy the island will provide, make amends where appropriate, stop living in fear..... Would all of the dead characters who have died at the hands of the island (no Michael or Anna Lucia involvement) be alive today if they had just embraced their new beginning?
