Him (Jacob) is the Emperor to Ben's Darth Vader, not that I think Ben is anyone's father. At least not anyone significant in Lost. With Jack being "in" with the Others now, that makes him the antithesis - the Luke Skywalker. Not that I think there's any genetic connection between him and Ben. Aha! - Lost finale = Lightsaber showdown

i think Him=Jacob=Ben's dad. that's not an option.
So he wouldn't fall under the heading of "Someone who hasn't been seen OR talked about yet"? Not really, since Jacob has been talked about. Aha! - Lost finale = Lightsaber showdown That would ROCK!

No. My speculations on that are based on TPTB's mention that the name "Jacob" was decidedly religious in context. In the Bible, Jacob is the father of Benjamin.

I hadn't read that, but its brilliant. Hence Ben is seen as the leader, often with some resentment. Maybe he's "inherited" the mantle. P.S. Princess Leia: love your avatar.

I'm guessing that Locke is HIM
I think during this season, we are going to get an awful lot of outright info. Locke is Him. This last episode all but confirmed it for me.

I voted for someone that hasn't been seen yet. I think "him" is Thomas Verner Mittlewerk. I have a hard time believing that ABC and affiliates would go through the trouble of concocting this little drama online and not use the info on the show. If I had to guess a different person, I would have to say Alvar Hanso, maybe?? Maybe they idolize the grave marker of Magnus Hanso and feed it sacrifices that the island demands. Hahahaa
WOW, finally someone who thinks like me.

Smokey turned into Locke. That gave him the power of being always right. Hence he is the good one, winner of game and everything else for now on.

re: locke.
is he forgiving?
didn't he learn to forgive his father, helen, desmond, etc.
there is something to him wanting so desperately to be a leader/someone important though. and ben as henry did get captured while supposedly "coming for you, john"
i guess i wouldn't be surprised by john being HIM either way. he's the strongest candidate of the survivors for me, but i'm not totally sold.

Did he ever forgive his father? I still haven't seen any forgiveness yet. Nor towards Helen or Desmond.

perhaps not.....i thought that the forgiveness towards his father was in the commune episode (but i may have just made that leap myself). same goes for desmond when he finally said he was wrong about the hatch.
but you're right, unles it's said definitively on the show i shouldn't assume.

locke has not forgiven, or at least we have not seen it. i don't think locke is HIM. HIM is someone who the others revere. there is no way ben would have allowed locke to be hurt during the "lockdown" if he was HIM. he would have done everything he could to help him. i think when we meet HIM (if we do) EVERYONE will know it. there will be no doubt in anyone's mind.

You guys, I feel silly saying it but I think it's Desmond. The only time I've ever read it was on some blog somewhere, I never bookmarked it and I never saw it again. I wish I could give some solid reasoning here - this person had me so completely convinced but that was quite awhile ago and my memory stinks... so let me think about it and see what I can remember... I only just saw this thread. sooo, give me a bit and I'll see what I can come up with!
