The Flame
« on: March 08, 2007, 12:19:23 AM »
the Flame seemed pretty low-tech to me, other than the big dish...or was I so into the epi that I missed something?

I did notice that the guy on the computer was standing in front of the manuals that Sayid had found, so he was there at one point...

I'm still curious.  Why do you think they call it the flame?

Perhaps as a beacon.  Or an electrical relay/power center.  Or the C4.  It certainly became a flame at the end of the episode.

I believe the stations are named after the terrain they are build. Based on landscape or geology.

RE: Why the flame.

Patch called himself the "Lighthouse Keeper"  Back before electricity, they had a big fire in the top of the lighthouse, in front of a big mirror.  That was how they signaled ships.

Makes sense to me.
