Yamaha bike
« on: March 01, 2007, 12:27:05 AM »
Hurley's Dad's motorcycle was a yamaha, but on the fuel tank where the logo is, the 'y' and the last 'a' were missing, spelling "amah". This is quite visible when he is pulling out of the driveway in the opening scene.

A quick google search found me this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amah
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amah_Rock

Any thoughts?

That's an interesting find... I'm curious... interesting that it also is connected, like so many lost things with eastern culture... at first I thought they just didn't want to pay Yamaha royalties for using their product...

Intersting find... I'm sure it's mostly due to copyright that they changed it to "amah" but then again, they could've just removed the whole brand name...

"Amah" is a common word for a female servant or aunt or nanny or governess in Asia...  I've heard it before along with "ayah" and "yaya" but I'm not sure how it all fits in to the scheme of things as far as Lost goes...

(Edit: Ok, after reading sledge's posts and the links provided above, I thought - "what cool mythology" and I wonder if and how they would work that into the show with regards to the Jin-Sun relationship and their baby-to-be...)

You can see the "Yahama" name on the engine as Dad drives off....
