The letter could have been months old.. something that was put in the trash... the recycling as Sawyer called it looked like the contents of a tipped over trash can... work man = janitor?

mindsparkle, I guess thats why all the beer was in the bus. However that now brings up a question as to why did none of the OTHERS go looking for Roger and the bus full of beer for the 'party'? Don't you think if the beer run bus never makes it to the party that a search party would be sent out?

Also, Sledge, can we get a screen shot of Sawyer drinking with Roger propped up next to him? PRETTY PLEASE?
Here are a few pics I have, don't know if they are helpful or not..

VWs have notoriously big hazard light switches.  After re-watching that scene, I'm convinced that is what this switch is.

The letter next to Rogers head looks like it has the following letters on it:

Ho' olaule'a   Lanui

this means literally "celebration holiday" and is Hawaiian and/or Polynesian

Additionally, it seems to be saying "please respond", something about "work" and "to put"... these were the only words I could make out but given the title it must have been a memo about a party.

after reading this post I found a Hawaiin dictonary and did some fooling around with the words as I could get from the blown up screencap and I think the words are....
1st word ho'ulu translated to english.... grow
2nd word Lahui translated to english could be a few things but 2 of them stand out.... tribe and species so I don't think this memo has anything to do with a party.... here is the website you can type in the words and get the meanings...

Here are the sites I used to define the "celebration Holiday" phrase... remember there are phrases in languages that when broken down will have different meanings... and the paper has a fold on the first word so you can't see all the letters... but putting Lanui on the end made it a phrase for celebration...

I don't know that either of us are right or wrong...

that's just another person's opinion on lostpedia... again, probably neither of us is right.. but hey if you all what it to be Dharma serious go ahead... I just think with information like "beer" in the van, the DIHG Recreational area on the map and such that these people had good times, too.  But whatever, I concede... it's whatever you want it to be.
