After the scaffolding/building falls on the man his red shoes are seen sticking out from the debris. Just like the wicked witch of the west had in the wizard of Oz when a house fell on her- This all turned out to be a dream/was all in Dorothy's mind. Is there a parallel to be drawn with desmond and is this all (or partly) in Desmond's mind, or similar, or is it a bluff/double bluff from the writers!!
I thought this too. Also similar to Wizard of Oz is the placement of important people in Dorothy's dream, scarecrow, lion, tin man, wizard, witch, etc.
