I think Jack is the true "hero" of the show not Dessie...

i don't think he's the MOST important, but i think we now know that he is MORE important.  one of the things i love so much about lost is that with each flashback we see how important that character is to the "big picture".  i think jack is VERY important, but without everyone else he would be nobody.  without juliet, where would jack's story be?

anyway,  i think they are all important.

JB = Jeremy Bentham, and Bram's first name is Joe

I originally said that the story is revolving around him. I don't really think there is any ONE main character. If Desmond dies, the story isn't over, so no, Des isn't the main character.

However, I really don't think Jack is the Main character either. There are a lot of Main characters, and Jack is one of them.

i didn't vote that desmond was the most important character, i voted that his actions will define the show. he is the new fulcrum of lost. i agree if he dies, it doesn't mean the story is over like jb said. no main characters. heck maybe aaron is the most important character, we don't know yet.

I think jack is the center....but everyone has a specific role that needs to be played out.  (Deep - I know.)

Look at it this way: Jack was gonna be killed in the pilot. Henry/Ben was supposed to have a few episodes but was put in more because fans liked him. Im pretty sure desmond wasnt supposed to have as big a role as he has had, but due to fans liking him.

I think if you try to figure out lost based on characters and not information from characters you are going in the wrong path.

Ok, so Jack was going to be killed in the pilot, but it was changed. It's a simple thing for the writers to say "ok, this Jack character has alot to offer, let's make him the main guy instead of blank"

I'd like to think that one of the original characters was always going to be the fulcrum, maybe it was Locke, Kate, Sawyer or some character that they cut, but Jack was the better choice in the end.

I think the Jack was going to be killed in the pilot was over blown. They changed their minds right away. It was not something that was decided right after they started filming.

I think Hurley is more central to the story than Dessie (and Jack) but I don't think one character will define the show.

i think each character has their own role to play in this story, and without each the others would still exist as would the story, but it would be very different.  hurley is not only the "comic relief" but i also think he is the glue that ties everyone together OFF the island.  the losties may never realize it, but i think the more we learn about hurley, the more we learn of his connections to them.

the writers have said there isnt one sentence that can sum up the show. all of these different subplots cant possibly be going on if one character is the center of the show. especially when they keep saying "live together or die alone."
