I believe that this was the craziest episode yet. 

Charlie will go down by saving Erin.  This will not be for a long time though.

I wish the episodes would go together better.  Not just hopping back inforth between the two islands

New thought maybe the scen where Des saves the bartender from getting hit, by getting hit himself, is somehow a foreshadowing of what is going to happen on the island.  Maybe Des is going to save Charlie again and then he will die and take charlies place.

I'm still a little fuzzy on what parts of tonight's episode were flashback and really happened, and which were part of his knocked-out state. And WHICH knocked-out state -- with the paint can, getting hit in the bar, or after the hatch blowup? The part that really messed me up was the jewelry store lady. I thought I had a handle on what was happening before SHE showed up.

I had this sense while watching the episode that each time he got hit, he'd "switch" back and forth from having precognition to not having it ... then to having it again. But that didn't really seem right, either.

I don't like this whole Final Destination like plot twist....  It's too much like that theory so I'm hoping there is more to it than simply the universe is going to get you once you are meant to die one way or another....  Although I did find the episode interesting.  I'm trying to put my brain around everything we have learned to date and tie it altogether.  My brain is on overload. There are too many aspects to try to tie together....  I keep thinking about the conversation Juliet had in the beginning of the season about free will and how that fits into this new theory...

I don't believe that it was a dream. They wanted you to think it was a dream. I think he's stuck between two universes and the conflicts between the two allow him to see the future as the time is different on the island than in the other therefore Desmond can see the future on the island, but only see his past actions in his other world.

It has to be a dream. How would getting hit by a bat put him back on the island?
I had thought that a better ending would have been him signing up for the Army and then flashing back to him running in the jungle.
I would have said he was stuck in two different parallel existances, but the old Lady was obviously Smokie/The island.

The very same thing occurred to me, especially when Desmond asked his friend "Do you know anything about time travel" lol. The scene in DD where Donnie asks his science teacher the same thing practically word for word immediately jumped out at me.

Charlie isn't going to die. I might be in denial, but Charlie is NOT going to die. Desmond will change fate and prove that free will is the ultimate force in the universe.
