Ben is Alex's Dad

Wow, I know there were some people during the Lost hiatus this winter that were speculating of Ben being Alex's dad. Whoever guessed that, you're right!

That was big when I found out, I was shocked. I mean, now we can all wonder some more about this crazy Danielle girl.

I'm thinking more on the lines of adopted dad. Like Ben raising her? Maybe Alex doesn't know or something like that.

That's what I think too and felt that was the impression the show was giving.  I doubt that he's her biological father.  He's probably the one who stole her and raised her as his own.  It shows he's been on the island for at least 16 years, maybe he really has been on it his whole life.

But I mean, what will Danielle do? She's a tad loca to everyone who doesn't know her, and most who do. Danielle will say that Alex is her daughter and what will Alex do?

I still find it very interesting that she still has the name Alex!  Why would they not have changed her name!!!  & now that Kate & Sawyer knows her name (not to mention Karl being with them), somehow they'll match her with Danielle.

Ben was on the operating table. He obviously couldn't pick up the transceiver.

Think what you want, but as far as we know and I'm not gonna look too far into this one, but it seems pretty obvious to me that Ben is indeed her real father, and I have no reason to think otherwise.

Why would there be a need to change her name? There is only one person left alive that knew Alex's name that wasn't an OTHER and that was Danielle. If they keep Alex on Alcatraz, she will never run into Danielle, and if they don't keep her on Alcatraz, then they can at least keep her away from Danielle by limiting her to the Dark Territory or other places that Danielle doesn't go. Plus, Alex wouldn't believe a crazy lady anyways.

They probably told her that her mother died.

(long time reader, first time poster, hey everyone!)

I'm thinking they probably didn't keep Alex on Alcatraz very well, seeing as she had a boat. What other reason would she have a boat other than to go between islands? And if she can do that, perhaps she's even met her mom (or one of her mom's traps). We also know that Alex is capable of making her own trap-type devices (the trap door hiding place), which could also hint that she knows her mom somewhat and was trained by her.

But if she's seen her mom recently at all, there'd be no reason to go kidnapping Claire's baby. So I guess I'm stumped.

I agree that they haven't kept her on Alcatraz very well, but I don't think she's run into Danielle very much at all... If ever.

I think that Alex knows her boundaries (We both know your father) and although she pushes them lika any teenager, she isn't about to go too far.

Plus, there's Smoky. We don't know who or what controls Smoky. And there is a possibility of Other OTHERs....

Danielle does know that the others have Alex because Claire told her that Alex was there, not sure why the others didn't change her name but may just be to save us viewers some time making the connection, wanted to keep it obvious?

I'm not sure the others were too worried about Danielle and Alex running into each other - after all, we're assuming the others little bookclub village is on the main island and if Ben has raised Alex then wouldn't he have raised her at home? There would have been plenty of opportunity for Alex to run into her mum during her 16 years, something kept them confident that Danielle wouldn't show up.
