I was focused on Kate. I might have missed that.

someone also said something like "she's on the grid" i thought. also, there was hardly any time between the warning and when Alex showed up. i thought that was odd.
Maybe based on the age of the system, some sensors no longer operate but the perimiter breach does.

perimeter is spelt perimeter.. arg..
Haha... yeah, I was confused when I first read this too... I was scrathing my head going, "Did they mean PERIMETER BREACH?" Saw this comment and figured it was probably just a typo like you. Where's GJ when you need her to explain her dependence on spell check? Oh well, it happens... not trying to be nitpicky cuz we all do it... Anyway, I thought this whole alarm/security system is so interesting because we can't really tell how big the perimeters are and how the others' camp on Alcatraz is being monitored. Even funnier was Alex running in with a slingshot... Gotta love LOST...

I think the Perimeter Breach was just a way for the show to add a bit more Excitment to the scene. I think if she would have just run up with the slingshot it wouldn't have been as tense...but if we must put a reasoning to it, I think it was only then that she was seen on one of Ben's cameras. He sees Alex moving to interfere, he sounds the alarm.

I thought someone must have been watching and saw Alex so sounded the alarm - If Ben was watching then maybe that is why he asked if Alex had asked about him - maybe he just had pictures but no sound or maybe he knows Juliette is lying to him - maybe Alex was there on purpose but it was Ben who sent her to test Juliette?

That would make sense that it was he who sounded the alarm when he saw her on the screens. This also would explain why he asked about her before the surgery. If Juliette lied about Alex asking to see Ben, I doubt Juliette would have even mentioned Alex had Ben not already known about her.

I'm thinking too someone saw her on camera and set off the alarm. The earlier Epi, Alex was there in the bushes close to the "work site" and no alarm went off. No alarm went off with Kate and Sawyer, cuz no one was watching...all paying attention to Ben's surgery...plus, I think they arent as worried about escape, knowing Sawyer knows there is no where to go...

Ben was not in surgery at the time that kate escaped so scratch that part well not in surgery, but it seems he's the one that watches the monitors the most...at least he's the one always in front of the monitors from what we have seen...but, my point is the alarm isn't elaborate sensors just people watching the cameras and setting the alarm...anywho...=)
