Well, I don't have any real proof to back up my claim, but I'm saying that the 67 day commercial was a mistake, and that the 65 day previews are the ones we need to focus on.
Basically, the 67 day preview is from an ABC Preview show that aired a week or so ago. I've only seen that preview one time, on that one show. But the 65 day previews have been showing since then. And the language within the preview almost exactly matches between the 65 and the 67 day versions. Plus, GJ mentioned that he read it in TV Guide as well, confirming 65 days. My guess is that the 67 days one was just a goof up, or something like that. Hell, I even saw one of the 65 day previews tonight, so they're still airing them.
Just my 2 cents worth, but I say focus on the 65 day version.

Okay, here's some of my thoughts after much watching and re-watching. DAY 49 (2x10) [Tuesday November 9, 2004]
* It is not clear how much time passes between 2x9 and 2x10, I'm assuming one day because of the time Eko's trip to find and burn the plane would have taken in 2x10. However, assuming the info about S2 taking 65 days is correct, this means that 2x10 takes place on the same day as 2x9.
My opinion is that the funeral in 2x9 appears to happen early in the morning, possibly shortly after sunrise. There is no difinitive proof of this, just the flow of the episode. If this is true, then episode 2x10 begins on the very same day, just as Sledge now has it. DAY 52 (2x12) [Friday November 12, 2004]
* It's not clear when the events of 2x12 take place. Could possibly pick up on same day 2x11 ends. Charlie takes the baby during his dream at night, indicating the passing of one day in this episode.
Once again, I agree there. In 2x12 it is very ambiguous about what day it might be. After Charlie's first dream, it appears to very obviously be either early morning or late at night. However, if the survivors are on the southern end of the island as has been suggested, then it is obviously morning, as the sun is in the eastern sky. That's all I've got for now. Looks good to me though.

For now, I'm calling the ON ISLAND justification DONE! I've already started making changes to the timeline on the main site- the timeline will now include the date that survivors on the island would believe it to be. In addition, the color coding is now coded by days - so all events in the same day share the same color background. In addition, the label of the day doesn't appear next to each event - only the first event for that day. And, I've also added a field to indicate if the date is confirmed by direct references within the show.
Right now, I have over 400 enties in the timeline, and I have to go and edit each of those, in addition to adding new items. So, look for the timeline to update slowly over the next few days.

Thanks Aztro yes as hubby watches a lot of college football most of the lost commercials air on there I have seen about five. Two say 65 days.TV guide had 65 days then comes this promo with host of that dance show with the producers and it says 67 days, they say 67 days.Kind of scary though when the producers don't even have the correct date but that is why they keep me so busy in continuity errors thread, and on a lot of tylenol for all the headaches...

One thing that matters though is WHEN the line "65 DAYS AGO" is said in reference to current time on the show.
Usually, the number of days ago would be one less than the current day. So, if Season 3 starts on the next day after the last day in S2, then we would assume S3 starts on Day 66, and S2 ended on 65.
However, if the "65 DAYS AGO" quote is meant to be referencing the same day that S3 ends, then that means S2 actually ended on the 66th day.
For example, if I say "1 DAY AGO", that usually means I'm referring to YESTERDAY. So, if I say ONE DAY AGO on DAY 66, that means I'm talking about DAY 65.
So, I still think S2 could be 65 or 66 days. For now, I have it at 65, but, there is room to adjust things by one day and make it 66 days. See my notes on day 49.

Is there anything to the theory of the seasons of LOST lasting the number of days corresponding to the numbers in decending order? Can anyone point me to a thread about this? It is close so far but does not match up exactly with the SWLS timeline.
Season 1 = 42 days on island Season 2 = 23 days on island Season 3 = 16 days on island and so forth?

The SWLS timeline is pretty close. I'd hedge my bets on Sledge's timeline anyday.

--- POSSIBLE ALTERNATE FOR 67 DAYS ---
DAY 51 (2x10) [Wed November 10, 2004]- It is not clear how much time passes between 2x9 and 2x10, I'm assuming one day because of the time Eko's trip to find and burn the plane would have taken in 2x10. However, assuming the info about S2 taking 65 days is correct, this means that 2x10 takes place on the same day as 2x9.
DAY 52 (2x11) [Thu November 11, 2004]- Hurley tells Charlie "Dude, it's been a day [since Claire dumped you]", meaning events in 2x11 are one day after events in 2x10. This is the episode where we see Michael lock Jack and Locke up and take off after Walt. Jack tells Mr. Friendly they have been on the island 50 days.
- Michael takes off on this day after locking up Jack and Locke, 13 DAYS AGO in relation to 2x22
DAY 53 (2x11) [Fri November 12, 2004] VETERANS DAY- When Jack and company encounter Mr. Friendly, it is night. When they arrive back to the main camp, still in 2x11, it is day, indicating a day has passed during their trek
DAY 53 (2x12) [Sat November 13, 2004] - It's not clear when the events of 2x12 take place. Could possibly pick up on same day 2x11 ends. Charlie takes the baby during his dream at night, indicating the passing of one day in this episode.
DAY 54 (2x22) [Sat November 13, 2004]- Michael is taken OTHERS' camp "11 days ago" from events in real-time in 2x22. This means it must be 2 DAYS after he left, on day 51.
DAY 54 (2x12) [Sun November 14, 2004] - Charlie starts fire and takes Aaron at night
DAY 55 (2x12) [Mon November 15, 2004] - Still in 2x12, Aaron and Claire are baptized
DAY 54 or 55 (2x13) [Tue November 16, 2004] - Could start on day 55
- Ends at night, signaling end of day
[/li][/list] Day 55 or 56 (2x14) [Wed November 17, 2004] - Rousseau captures The Prisoner and turns him over to Sayid.
- Sayid brings The Prisoner to the hatch, where he tortures him.
- The sun is setting when Sayid and Charlie talk, marking the end of DAY 57.
Day 56 or 57 (2x15) [Thu November 18, 2004]- Aaron becomes sick during the NIGHT and Claire wants to take him to the hatch to see Jack. Locke tells her it isn't safe, and that he'll go to the hatch and get Jack. In the hatch, Locke asks about The Prisoner, and Jack says that he hadn't made a sound all NIGHT. This seems to indicate it is the first night after DAY 57.
- Locke asks The Prisoner if he needs to use the bathroom, he replies "No", and Locke tells him to let them know when he does. Later, we see Jack escorting The Prisoner to the bathroom. This also seems to indicate it is the first day after DAY 57.
- Later the same day, Eko asks to speak to The Prisoner. He asks The Prisoner how long he has been in the armory, and The Prisoner responds "two days". It is later in the day when this happens, and it is unclear if he is counting the current day as one of the days, or if he is on his third day, and only counting the two previous days he has been in the armory.
- There is an outdoor shot at the end of this episode showing the sun low in the sky, indicating it is towards the end of this day.
Day 57 or 58 (2x16) [Wed or thu November 17-18, 2004]- When Locke asks Ana to talk to the Prisoner, Ana says she has been with the main group of survivors for over a week. (Ana and the group arrived at Day 48 - so that makes this particular day DAY 56+).
- Rose says it is Saturday
- Locke tells Ana The Prisoner has been in the hatch for 3 days. This seems to indicate it is the next day after the day depicted in 2x15. Again, though, it is unclear if Locke is counting the current day as one of the three days.
- Ana gets The Prisoner to draw a map, and she sets out with Sayid and Charlie to find the balloon. They make it some ways, when it becomes dark, and they set up a camp for the NIGHT.
Day 58 or 59 (2x16) [Thu or Fri November 18-19, 2004]- The next MORNING (still episode 2x16), Ana, Sayid and Charlie continue their trek and find a clearing. In the hatch, Jack lets The Prisoner out for some BREAKFAST (cereal).
- This episode covers two days, and ends on the MORNING of day 61.
Day 59 or 60 (2x17) [Fri or Sat November 19-20, 2004]- 2x17 picks up right where 2x16 left off, with Gale still at the table with the cereal and Ana, Sayid and Charlie searching the clearing for the balloon.
- Hurley tells Jack that Ana-Lucia took off into the jungle YESTERDAY (the first day covered in 2x16, day 60).
- Jack is heading back to the hatch after his poker game at NIGHT, with Kate, when they find the parachute and supplies and run into Sayid, Charlie and Ana returning from their balloon hike
- This episode ends at night, signaling the end of this day.
DAY 60 or 61 (2x18) [Sat or Sun November 20-21, 2004] - During the MORNING, survivors pick apart the supplies dropped the previous NIGHT. Charlie asks if anyone heard a plane fly by last NIGHT.
DAY 62 (2x22) [Mon November 22, 2004]- Michael makes deal with Bea Klugh and starts towards camp. This was "3 days ago" in relation to real-time events in 2x22, meaning
DAY 63 (2x19, 2x20) [Tues, November 23, 2004] - Ana says The Prisoner hasn't eaten or talked in 2 DAYS (He last talked to Ana, Sayid and Locke in 2x18)
- Bernard says they have been on the island 2 MONTHS
- At NIGHT, Jack and Kate set up camp at the line they aren't suppose to cross. That night, Michael stumbles into their camp
DAY 64 (2x20, 2x21) [Wed November 24, 2004] - Backdating from 2x22, we find that Michael's shooting of Ana and Libby is most likely on day 62.
- Ana tells Michael that The Prisoner has been in the hatch for over a week (if my count is right, it is actually only 6 days)
- 2x21 starts where 2x20 leaves off, just after Ana and Libby are shot
- Eko and Locke go searching for ?, camp at night, signaling end of day
DAY 65 (2x21, 2x22) [Thu November 25, 2004] - 2x21 continues into next day
- Events that take place "today" in 2x22 are 13 days after the events in 2x11
- Sawyer tells Jack that he gave him all the meds "two days ago". This doesn't really give us a good time reference. Although we know Jack won the rights to the meds in 1x17, one DAY X+3, Jack told Sawyer at that time that he would come back for the meds "later". It appears that Sawyer handed over all the meds on DAY X+6
- Libby dies during day 64, end of 2x21
- 2x22 picks up on same day
- 2x23 starts on same day, Desmond says he was sailing for TWO AND HALF WEEKS. I have him fleeing on day 45, 18 days ago - about 2.5 weeks
DAY 66 (2x23) [Fri November 26, 2004] - Michael and gang set out to attack Others. Camp for the night, signaling end of day.
DAY 67 (2x23) [Sat November 27, 2004] - Michal leads group into trap. Locke tells Desmond they have been on the island 60-65 days.
DAY 68 (3x1) [Sun November 28, 2004]Sayid sets first fire? DAY 68 (3x3) [Sun November 28, 2004]- Charlie says that Locke has been gone for a WHOLE DAY after the hatch implosion on Day 67
- Locke and Desmond wake up in jungle. Locke returns to camp.
- Locke has talk with island and learns Eko is in trouble
- Locke and Charlie set out to rescue Eko
- Hurley runs into Charlie and Locke on his way back from Docks, tells them about J, K, S
- Hurley gives Desmond clothes, and they both return to camp
- Locke rescues Eko from Polar Bear den
- Eko tells Locke he can still save J, K, S
- Locke gives speech saying they will go after J,K,S
DAY 69 (3x2) [Mon November 29, 2004]- According to Ben, 3x2 takes place on day 69, nov 29th
- appears to be morning? Kate and Sawyer talk about ALARM CLOCK and WAKING. Are given LUNCH to take with them
- Sayid says it has been OVER A DAY since signal fire was lit what would appear to be day 68
- Sayid says tracks on dock may be from YESTERDAY
- Ends at NIGHT, signaling END OF DAY
- Colleen's group goes after sail boat
- Kate and Sawyer forced into laber
- J, S, S find dock
- Alex asks Kate if she has seen Karl
- J, S, S start signal fire to trap Others
- Sawyer kisses Kate, engages in scuffle with Pickett and other Others
- Collen's group ambushes J, S, S. Sun shoots and fatally injures Colleen.
- Others take sailboat, leaving J,S, S behind
- Ben shows Jack TV and promises to take him home if he helps them
DAY 70 (3x4) [November 30, 2004]- Colleen is brought back during the day, after being shot during the night at the end of day 69 in 3x2
DAY 71 (3x4, 3x5) [December 1, 2004]- 3x4 - Ben wakes up Sawyer in the morning and takes him to show him that they are on a different island and that trying to escape is useless.
- 3x5 - Eko's tent catches fire and he flees beach. Next day Locke and group leave for The Pearl. The trip to the Pearl is confirmed as day 72 in Expose (3x14), also confirming Eko's tent catching fire the night before, day 71.
DAY 72 (3x5, 3x6) [December 2, 2004]- 3x5 - Locke and Group takes a trip to the Pearl. This is confirmed as day 72 in Expose (3x14) when Nikki volunteers to go.
- 3x6 - Locke and group find Eko's body just outside the Pearl, showing this is the same day still.
- 3x6 - Kate and Sawyer are intimate in his cage at night.
DAY 73 (3x6, 3x7, 3x8, 3x9) [December 3, 2004]- 3x6 - Kate and Sawyer awake the next morning in each other's arms, as Picket approaches to kill Sawyer. Obvious that its the next morning.
- 3x7 - Begins where we left off in 3x6. Entire episode is during the same day.
- 3x8 - Sayid says they buried Eko yesterday so still day 73. Episode ends at night of same day
- 3x9 - Sawyer and Kate still in boat (it was only 2 miles to the main island), which seems to signify that this episode is backtracking a little to earlier in day 73, before 3x8 ended.
DAY 74 (3x9) [December 4, 2004]- 3x9 This day starts when Jack wakes up in his cage. It clearly appears to be morning.
- 3x9 Episode ends with the sun going down signifying end of the day.
DAY 75 (3x10) [December 5, 2004]- 3x10 - Appears to start the day after the last episode.
- 3x10 - Kate and Sawyer return to beach camp.
DAY 78 (3x11) [December 8, 2004]- 3x11 Sawyer and Hurley have ping pong game
- 3x11 Sayid mentions they've been walking for 2 days.
- 3x15 Sawyer makes a reference that the ping pong game was 3 and a half days ago. 3x15 happens on day 82.
DAY 80 (3x12, 3x13) [December 10, 2004]- 3x12 Starts in daylight and whole episode happens on same day.
- 3x12 At the end, Charlie reads Claire's pigeon letter, which says "Charlie: [Reading] To whom it may concern. We are survivors of Oceanic Flight 8-1-5. We have survived on this island for 80 days. We were 6 hours into the flight when the pilot said we were off course and had to turn back towards Fiji. We hit turbulence and crashed. We've been waiting here all this time. Waiting for rescue that has not come. We do not know where we are. We only know you have not found us. We've done our best to live on this island. Some of us have come to accept that we may never leave it. Not all of us have survived since the crash. But there is new life too. And with it there is hope. We are alive. Please don't give up on us. [Speaking and moved] It's uh...it's perfect, Claire."
- 3x13 Episode begins exactly where 3x12 left off, obviously on the same day.
- 3x13 Ben confirms this day to Locke, "Ben: You've been here 80 days, John. I've been hear my entire life. So how is it you think you know this island better than I do?
____________________________________________________________________________________ DAY ?? (4x1) [?? 2004]- 4x01 Naomi: Help me? I just spent the last 3 days trying to get you people rescued. And you throw this knife in my back.
This episode takes place 3 days after Naomi arrives DAY ?? (4x2) [?? 2004]- 4x02 News Woman: This haunting footage comes to us from the Christiane I, a salvage vehicle in the Indian Ocean. For more than 2 months it's been scouring the depths of the Sunda Trench off Bali in search of the remains of sunken trading ships.
This indicates that the "2 months" were happening during the island timeline, but we don't know exactly when. DAY ?? (4x3) [?? 2004]- 4x03 Jack: [Chuckling] I can’t believe it’s been a 100 days since I’ve seen a game.
DAY ?? (4x4) [?? 2004]- 4x04 Sun: You haven't heard from Sayid? You said they left yesterday!
- 4x04 Miles (to Ben): I'll take care of Charlotte. You just worry about getting me the money. You have 2 days.
4x04 Miles Okay. 1 week, in cash. - 4x04 Locke I realize that when I tied you up in here the other day, I made the mistake of failing to introduce myself. My name is John Locke, and I'm responsible for the well being of this island. Eventually, Miles, you're going to tell me who you are, and you're going to tell me about the people on the boat, and your going to tell me why you're so interested in Ben. In the meantime, however, you're going to keep your mouth shut. I learned something yesterday.
"Other day" refers to when miles was tied up. Yesterday refers to the first day of 4x04, when Kate let miles out - 4x04 Claire: Uh-huh. I saw Rousseau take him in there last night.
Telling Kate when Ben was taken to the basement. - 4x04 Charlotte They left last night! Frank took them up in the helicopter.
- 4x04 Sawyer Oh, come on! It's not like we ain't never done it before. Now, I'm cool we didn't go all the way last night. I get it. You were sad. But I mean, how can you resist after that whole "I'll keep you safe" thing?
Indicates that 4x04 took place over 2 days. Sawyer and Kate wake up together the next day DAY ?? (4x5) [December 24, 2004]
