I hope this one keeps going like last week. I worked on a bit last night and honestly got nowhere. I don't think I'll be able to play at lunch today. Oh well.....congrats to all who have gotten past the first part.

There's this one clue that just doesn't make any sense to me.  I must be doing something wrong, but I can't get it!

That is the most frustrating feeling in the world. It happened to me a couple of times last year and almost made me cry. This hunt is especially brutal though IMHO.

Still no clue. Well, that's lucky for me, since I forgot to check for one. Not that it would matter anyway since I already submitted. I'm reassured by the fact that lots of people had trouble with the last part, since I did too, so it's likely I at least started out in the right direction.

I have to say that I am completely humbled by this Hunt and by all those who made it past the first step. I have been going around in circles. Now I am going to bed. Good luck all!

Alrighty, the solution and stats are up. There was no need for a hint on this one, because all the point slots and 3 alternates were full by the 24 hour mark. I was just waiting for one more correct answer, which was submitted at 30 minutes after the 24 hour mark. Unfortunately, that answer had some extra data in it, and thus the automatic close didn't take place - and I didn't have time to manually post the solution and stats until now.

Well, I was wrong again. I was on the right trail, but I transcribed the morse code as NAME IS AAC1S PLACE (I could have sworn there was a space between s and a, and that .-----, if that's even what it was, means 1 not apostrophe). I had to listen to the stupid thing about 500 times before I even got that much, plus fiddle around until I found out how to slow it down so it'd be easier to transcribe. And it took me forever to download quicktime so I could hear the stupid thing in the first place. So since AAC made no sense, I convinced myself the first A might have been an M, and 1S might mean 1st. So that gives me MAC, and someone whose "name is...first place". Since CaseyMac is first in the competition so far, in both years, I submitted "Casey" as the answer. This seems stupid and the actual answer obvious now, but it made some sense at the time. I did, however, think it was kind of weird to base the answer on a contestant, because you couldn't ask their permission without giving them an unfair advantage. I guess better luck next week. Now I wanna know where "Charles Dickens" came from.
