wouldn't michael and walt be pulled back from when the counter reached 0 ???
they couldn't have traveled that far..

i'm not sure what occured first but that's a good way to force em back into the island...

But the magnetic pull was stopped when desmond turned the key. so they could leave.

I don't think the Magnet and what is preventing the island from being seen or found is so integrated.  The event made it visible for a moment but I think its still off the gribs once the vibtarions  and light ended.  But I have been wrong before ;)

They were given a heading but who knows what would have happened when they go there and met up with a ferry to the barracks (under water hatch?? ) but now that the switch was activated, their heading if legit would probably not work any more.
