St Elsewhere?

I am really disappointed that they pulled a St Elsewhere ending on us - - it will all in Jack's head.

Even the parts that had nothing to do with him . . .
Even the numbers...
Dharma...
The elaborate Jacob/MiB drama . . .

It felt to me that they were brining together all of the threads . . . and then just gave up and went for the most pat version of the story, negating all of the clever story craft that came before.

Then why did they show the devastated plane wreckage at the end?  I thought that made it clear that there were no survivors of the original flight.

I don't think it was all in Jack's head at all. It all happened on one timeline or another. Who is to say each didn't happen? It's Sci-Fi! It's a story. The only thing real was us watching it for six years...smiling. Nope not a St. Elsewhere at all. Or a Bob Newhart or Bobby in the shower on Dallas...

i don't know exactly why they showed the wreckage, but i would assume it was for old times sake

I sort of took them showing that to honor how the show started and the amazing lengths they went to for the pilot episode and all that was put into the overall production of the show. 

The show (story-line wise) ended with Jack closing his eye.

It all happened. Before Jack died he saw the plane flying away and he knew he saved them all.

everything that happened on the island really happened
the Oceanic 6 going back to civilaztion really happened
Miles, Sawyer, Kate, Claire and Lapedius getting off the island at the end really happened
Jack saving the island really happened
Hurley becoming the new Jacob really happened
Ben becoming the new Richard really happened

the alt time line did not happen

They didn't die in the original 815 crash.  Why would they have memories of a life that never happened then?  How would they know each other?  That would mean the island was an afterlife within an afterlife.  And it would mean the plane crashed into Ben and killed him in the pilot like the Wicked Witch of the East because he was there too.

That is your opinion.

The way I see it, there are 2 ways to look at it.
1.  The plane crashed, they all died.  The events on the island was a test.  Eventually everyone on the island 'dies.'  They move on and meet up at the church and go into the light.
OR
2.  The plane crashed, they survived.  The island events happened in real time, and everyone eventually dies.  They meet up at the church and go into the light.
