Jack's ascension?
« on: May 19, 2010, 01:16:09 PM »
Did anyone else think that after Jack drank the water from Jacob, the look on his face was rather like Neo after they downloaded all the kung-fu knowledge into his head?  I just got the feeling that Jack suddenly got ALL the answers to everything, and his knowledge is now simply on another level than everyone else.

That is the assumption that a lot of people seem to be making.

At the time, I didn't think so...but I guess I will have to go with the flow on this one.

I don't know if he got ALL the answers because I don't think Jacob has all the answers either.  But he is now the same as Jacob and yes, there was a moment of 'enlightenment' in his eyes where he was suddenly different.  Jacob had the same moment with his mother.  I was just disappointed that he told Sawyer he didn't feel any different.  I thought that was a good opportunity to give us a hint of what he did feel.

I don't remember that either, and I watched the scene this morning. Last we saw Sawyer he and Kate were watching Jack and Jacob from a distance, no further interplay between Sawyer and Jack. LostFan777...whatchyoutalkinbout?

I must have missed this as well. Good thing I always rewatch the episode the next day at lunch.

I didn't really notice that Jack had any particular look on his face after he drank the water, but if I missed this part with Sawyer, then maybe there is alot more I missed.

I guess it has to be this way, otherwise how could Jacob now the magic words?
On the other hand, would he throw his brother into the light if he knew that this would turn him into the monsta? I guess wisdom comes with time...

MachThree-I just rewatched the episode, and Jack did have some kind of look on his face, but I don't know if it was an epitome face. Looked more like he was saying "Okay, now what??".

I do think Jack now knows a lot more, maybe not everything, but I think his mind has opened up and he now has the capacity to begin to understand it all.
