Is poor Desmond still in the well? I am wondering if Penny's boat will show up again, looking for kidnapped Desmond?  It would be interesting if she shows up and makes Widmore change his plans. I wonder if Widmore and MIB are in working in collusion?  MIB gets to kill everyone left and Widmore gets the island to exploit.
Of course let's not forget the scene in the alt universe when we saw the island under water. I am indeed confused.

I feel like what we saw with Eloise knowing too much makes it very, very possible that she and MIB are together. Therefore, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to include Widmore in that. however, I do think Widmore is on his own side. desmond is in the well but has a LARGE part to play in how this all resolves. He is instrumental in the alt timeline getting everyone together and on the island --well, the island isn't done with him yet. I do hope he gets to be with Penny at the end but who knows... Jin and Sun, Libby and Hurley, Juliette and Sawyer, etc.... their stories doesn't give me much hope for Desmond and Penny.

He was when Sayid left him... Remember Sayid told Jack that Desmond was in the well before he took the bomb and went ka-boom :(

I posted what I thought in the thread "Desmond is the ONE". I won't type it all here again, but I think he is going to take Jacob's place

This is making a lot of sense to me. And if he's not the new Jacob I can see him being the new Richard even.

And speaking of Desmond, every one who comes to chat on Lost night knows how much I love him and his porn star sunglasses...

As predictable as most TV is, I think the curve ball that TPTB are going to throw at us is that no one is going to get their cliched happy ending. They have already started feeding us little bits of it. Sayid is dead, Sun and Jin are dead, and their daughter is now an orphan. My point you ask?? Well stop interrupting me, and I'll tell you. I think that Desmond is going to end up alone on the island, IF he lives to the/through the ending. I have a real strong gut feeling that everyone is going to suffer greatly (please oh please make Kate's suffering the worst), and the "happy ending" is going to be that the world is safe.

No way, everything we've seen since Widmore arrived has been Widmore vs. MIB.  From stealing prisoners back and forth to shooting at each other, it has been team Widmore against team MIB all the way.  The only difference has been a few of the players 'in the middle' like Jack, Kate, Sawyer, etc. who aren't sure who to believe.

I suggested the Des is the new Richard to Jack's new Jacob... I think Sayid said something to the effect of "It's going to be you" and then something like "you're going to need him" ("him" being Desmond) to Jack before he ran away with the bomb.
