I think Sayid will doubt Locke for throwing Desmond down the well.  So far Sayid only killed people he didn't really know.  Desmond may be able to convince Sayid to smarten up.

Yeah That is a possibility. IF of couse Sayid will turn out to be alright. It is possible though that Sayid is truly gone, and offs Des in the well.

Locke fell down the (same/similar?) well and suffered no more than a broken leg.  Des lives - maybe injured, but he lives.  Also, he can't die, the island 'tisn't done with him yet.

I believe Des is alive and will still play a major role in the end. I haven't formulated a clear idea of what his role will be, but I'm wondering if what Des is doing is similar to what Jacob did. Maybe Des will be taking over Jacob's role.

No matter what was seen in the preview--Desmond is still alive. He was brought to the island to do something and sacrifice. This is not the sacrifice Widmore was planning. That would be really lousy writing if Desmond were to end up dead at the bottom of the well after all the build up of the past few episodes. I trust TPTB know what they are doing.
