Straume and Linus are scratched out too, but they came back to the island after leaving it.
Widmore could be 108.

Exactly, and if you remember, Jacob didn't help either of them get BACK to the island as far as we can tell. I can't help but think though that Wallace doesn't equate to Widmore. I think that it is far too late in the game to reveal that his name is actually Charles Widmore Wallace. It would be rather lazy when you think about it. I don't know if we're ever suppossed to actually know who Wallace is.

The only Wallace I know is Wallace and Gromit.

I don't know, I think number 108 does have a meaning, the sum of the numbers, 108 days on the island, 108 minutes to push the
button. Maybe it's nobody.

Oh I agree with you, 108 is important. You should have seen me freaking out about "Who's name is at 108??" until the next day when I got on here and saw the screen cap. But in this case, I really don't think that this Wallace person will be as important as we want them to be.

I don't think we're going to see Wallace. His name was scratched out on the light house wheel if I am remembering correctly...

http://lost.cubit.net/assets_c/2010/02/6x04_lighthouse_names_8-2874.php

Which apparently I am. Now the rest of the names on the wheel that were scratched out had no magic reflection in the mirror, so I guess that means that if you are scratched off, your candidacy is no longer valid. Actually, I guess that doesn't mean you can't end up on the island, but Jacob probably won't help you get there if you have been scratched off the list. Wallace might even be on the island already, and we just haven't seen him.

I think I disagree with your assumption that scratch = no reflection, As I recall none of the numbers of any of the candidates is higher than 42, the wheel in the lighthouse went from 120 odds, to 108 to finally 23 when jack pushed it and that was all from left to right. Jack saw a reflection when the wheel got to about 108, he was supposed to tell Hurley to stop the wheel but was so mesmerized he couldn't and then saw another well before it got to 42.

Well, damn. I can't make the arguement that the scene didn't go down as you are saying, so I guess I can't fully stand by my idea. But I will say this, and I'm not trying to diminish your part of the arguement, but it seemed like it may have been poor editing. BUT, because I can't use this scene to back up my theory, I guess I have drop it.
