Results tagged “The Other Woman” from Sledgeweb's LOST ... STUFF

The audience of Lost has been looking for something since Season One and the night that Claire woke up in the caves screaming that someone was attacking her. We called them the Others because they are mercilessly at cross purposes to our group of Losties from Oceanic 815. We figured that they had a leader and guessed that it was everyone from Tom Friendly to the erstwhile Jacob to enigmatic Richard until we realized by the end of Season Three that it was Ben. Now we seem to be looking for a bad guy -- the person to aim our energy and anger at, the person to defeat in order for our heroes to be free and equal. The advertising trailers for Season Four have suggested that the freighter folks are bringing worse trouble than any we have known on the island thus far. So we've been watching, waiting for a name. Charles Widmore seems now to be on the short list of people to call villain. But I've got news for you. The writers of Lost are screaming at us that there is one villain and his name is Benjamin Linus. No other character in the Lost universe is more of a lying manipulator than he is. No one else has stooped lower to reach his goals. The audience seems prepared to forgive him while they castigate Locke for misguided decisions, Jack for arrogance and Michael for working for personal reasons. I suggest we redirect our judgment where it belongs.

I am pretty certain that I have made mention of the fact a number of times that I love this show. I buy into it hook, line and sinker. I don't think I've ever rated an episode any lower than a 6 or 7, and this episode is no different. I've been poking around the internets looking at reviews and of course reading the opinions and thoughts of our esteemed users here at Sledgeweb, and from what I can tell, the viewers of "The Other Woman" give it a resounding "meh."  The majority of us were not blown away by this particular installment. I enjoyed it; it was an episode of Lost, after all. It wasn't my least favorite episode of the season, but it wasn't my favorite either. More of my thoughts on this episode after the jump.

Sledgeweb's Lost Stuff users who participated in the Segment Ratings this week in the Live Group Watch showed their overwhelming dislike of "The Other Woman," giving it the lowest overall segment ratings of any episode this season. Members have also given "The Other Woman" an overall averages rating of 6.82%. This shows a sharp decline from last week's overall average of 8.61, and falls even below "Eggtown's" low 7.06. Last week we were thrilled and wowed, watching Desmond flip-flop back and forth through time, from 1996 to 2004. The implications of what we saw and what said in that episode will probably keep some of us up at nights for many weeks to come, while others of us will just try to pretend it doesn't mean some of the things that we think it means. But all in all, episode 4x05, The Constant, was solid, fun episode. The episode received the highest segment ratings of the season so far, in our new Live Group Watch segment rating area. Even our weekly poll showed this episode as the most popular of the season, thus far.
