cover011409.jpgWe are now only 7 short days away from the season 5 premiere of Lost, and our little Lost-empty hearts are beating so fast many of us can barely keep up with our daily routines. So, if you're feeling a bit like an addict who hasn't scored hit for far too long, I'm posting a list of episodes you may want to watch over the next 7 days in order to get yourself adequately caught up on some of the themes and storylines that its seems will be prevalent during season 5 on Lost. This list is coming from several sources across the web, including the producers of Lost as well as from Doc Jensen over at EW.com. Please be aware that some of you may consider the mentioning of these episodes to be minor spoilers.

4x13_boat_explosion.jpgAs we watched tonight's episode, perched on the edge of our seats, no doubt, as the freighter blew up before ours and our losties eyes. Many of us couldn't help but share Sun's painful screams as she watched her husband, Jin, perish in the ship's explosion. But a closer look at the scene immediately before the explosion appears to show nobody standing near the back of the boat where Jin was last seen. So I'll ask the question...could he have somehow made it off that boat before it exploded? This is lost, and we never actually saw him die. Let us know what your thoughts are on Jin's fate.

4x13_islandgone.jpg In the Season 4 finale of LOST, Ben uses a frozen donkey wheel to "move" the island. A bright light fills the sky, similar to what we saw with the Hatch Explosion, and then, the island disappears. A "hole" in the water can be seen closing up, filling in where the island use to be. But, where did it go? What exactly is the island, and how does this magical wheel in an oddly frozen underground cave control it? Bigger pics after the jump.

4x13_Glyphs.jpg When Ben uses the Frozen Donkey Wheel to move the island, he is in an old cave in which there are some hieroglyphs. Of course, we first caught sign of such glyphs on the Hatch Computer count down doomsday clock. Then, we saw glyphs in Ben's secret cave inside his secret room, inside a secret room. These glyphs seem to be tied to the natives of the island, and the four-toed statue, temple, and ruins we have seen or heard about. Of course, we don't really know what any of this is about... but we have two more seasons to find out. Take a closer look after the jump, and send your translations to us in the comments section!

4x13_Hurley.jpgThe season finale of LOST continues tonight with parts 2 and 3 of There's No Place Like Home! For those of you who don't have time to watch the recap of part 1 at 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern, here's a short reminder of where we left off last week.

By the end of part 1, Locke was about to enter the Orchid so that they could "move the island" while Ben was standing face to face with dear ole Keamy. Jack and Sawyer were at the helicopter with Frank, and just realized the danger that Hurley was in because he was with Locke and Ben. Meanwhile, Desmond, Michael, Jin, and Sun have come across an awful lot of C4 rigged to the freighter. Tonight's conclusion of an episode that was well liked by SW users and served as a fantastic setup episode for what is sure to be a wild ride of a finale. Tune in an hour earlier than usual for the two hours of action and fun.

4x12_rescue_photo.jpg Part of the cover-up story involving the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 involves the Oceanic 6 being helped ashore by some fishermen on a small remote island in the Pacific. To help convince the public, a fake photo of that "rescue" has been staged and presented at a press conference. Get a better view of the photo by clicking the Continue Reading link below.

4x12_crash_map.jpg Someone is going to a lot of trouble to keep the truth about Oceanic Airlines under wraps. Obviously, Widmore has something to gain by keeping his staged wreck a secret, but why are all the Losties participating in a cover up? In "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1", the Oceanic 6 attend a joint press conference with Oceanic representatives where a cover up story explains that the survivors washed up on a remote island. Here are some maps showing the cover-up locales. Bigger pics after the jump.

4x12_Orchidnotes.jpgIn "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1", Dan finds out that Keamy is headed toward the Orchid Station. The news sets off alarm bells in Dan's head, as he realized the backup plan is being initiated. Dan looks up some notes he made on the Orchid in his book, which we get a quick glimpse out. Formulas surround the logo, and some writing, which includes "space like factors", "time like factors" and "Possible!". Get a larger view of the notes after the jump.

4x12_keamy.jpgThe season finale of LOST begins tonight! Well... sort of. The finale has been expanded to a three hour episode, and we get the first hour tonight, and the final two hours in two weeks. LOST once again borrows from "The Wizard of Oz" with thematically relevant title. Thing are coming to a head quickly between the Widmore Commandos, lead by Keamy, and Locke's group as well as Jack's beach group (not to mention Sayid and the rest of the not-penny's-boat people).

Segment ratings for "Cabin Fever" indicate a slow start, with a slight upward movement up until the last segment, which received a perfect 5.0 rating average. The opening segment featuring Locke's birth was the second lowest first segment of the season. The following segments didn't move up or down significantly as we learned more about Locke's childhood and his failed "recruitment" by Richard Alpert. The low segment ratings are somewhat of a surprise, given the poll results which seem to give favorable marks for "Cabin Fever". However, perhaps the final segment is really pushing those poll numbers, because this segment received a perfect rating average. Locke's conversation with Christian and Claire scored high, and gave us a lot to ponder during the week. As ridiculous as the cliffhanger notion of moving the island seems, it looks like SWLS users loved the final moments of "Cabin Fever". Take a look at the segment ratings for Cabin Fever by reading the rest of this article.

LockeAt5.jpgThis was a very exciting episode. It had so many of the classic Lost elements: Locke on a journey towards destiny, Sayid taking things into his own hands, bad guys doing bad things, Ben being creepy, Hurley with all the good lines! Not a lot of romance but they gave us a double dose of that last week, so we were all set in that department. As always they gave us a few answers and a whole lot of new questions. Many people felt that the show was choppy. It is very obvious that these post-strike episodes are making up for lost time by packing a lot of action and information into a what little time they have remaining. I am okay with this. I have been frustrated by enough episodes that seemed to drag on and on that I will now take a condensed, choppy version and I will savor every fast-paced moment of it.

More of my thoughts on this episode after the jump.

4x11_AlpertItems.jpg Kid Locke is asked by an immortal Richard Alpert to pick from a display of items objects which he already owns. This sort of test is used to pick a new Dali Lama when the current one dies. Is John Locke a reincarnation of sorts of the island, or Jacob? Perhaps his quest to find Jacob is sort of like Leroy Green's quest to find The Master in "The Last Dragon"? Sho' nuff! Locke fails the test when he picks the knife as being one of the objects he already owns. Other items present include a comic book, Book of Laws, a compass, and a vial with a coarse sand-like material.

4x11_cover.jpg"I've got a fever, and the prescription is more cabin!" That's probably not how tonight's episode will start, but the fact that the enigmatic cabin is mentioned in the title has LOST fans in eager anticipation of tonight's Locke-centric offering, "Cabin Fever". The pace of the season slowed down with last week's more soap-operish "Something Nice Back Home", but it looks like that may have only been the calm before the storm. "Cabin Fever" looks to deliver for mythology fans tonight on ABC. Last week we found out that Locke and Ben plan to utilize Hurley to find the disappearing cabin, and that plan goes into action in the eleventh episode of the fourth season of LOST. We've previously learned that Ben can use an ancient cave to summon up the Smoke Monster - does that have anything to do with Jacob and his creepy cabin? Who or what exactly is Jacob, and what is his/its relationship to the island? Perhaps tonight's episode will shed some light on those matters. Locke episodes usually deliver, and this one must be super intense, because it's taking three different actors to play the role of John Locke, in an episode that sees a return to the flashbacks of previous seasons (rather than flash forwards).

I must admit, I didn't have high hopes for "Something Nice Back Home". First of all, it was a Jack-centric episode, which are hit or miss (usually miss for me). Secondly, it was following a fairly action and mythology packed episode, "The Shape of Things to Come". A recurring pattern in LOST is that these intense episodes are often followed by slower character-driven episodes - which I do think are important to balance out the series, but they usually are not my favorite episodes. Let's examine how SWLS users scored the segments of "Something Nice Back Home". Details after the jump.

4x10_jackTats.jpg Every time Jack removes clothing, debates begin about his tats. I don't remember seeing the one on his back before, and the one on his inner arm above the "stars" tat doesn't look familiar, but perhaps I've just missed these before. It wouldn't be at of character for Jack to get some fresh tats after returning from the island. What exactly is that on his back though? A "K" and a "8"? K8 = Kate? With some kind of Decepticon symbol. Take a close look and let us know what you think in the comments. View a larger image after the jump.

4x10_newspaper.jpgJack's picks up this paper near the beginning of episode 4x10, "Something Nice Back Home". The paper announces the Yankees sweep of the Boston Red Sox, which places this flash forward at the end of August, 2007 (see comments below). The article is written by Gregg Bilson... this seems to be a fake article, and Gregg Bilson is the founder of Independent Studio Services, a company that produces props for the film and television industry - so perhaps a reference to that Gregg Bilson? Also, of interests, there is an email address in a blank space below the article. It looks like marvin.mancia@studiographics.us ... interesting, when you type in studiographics.us in your browser, you go to the ISS site affiliated with Gregg Bilson. Looks like some inside promotion (Bilson has also appeared as a brand of cigarettes in LOST). I don't see a Marvin Mancia listed on their site, but they do use the name MANCIA in some product samples, viewed here. Larger view after the jump.

4x10_cover.jpg LOST returned after a long break last week, and according to our poll results and segment ratings, it was a hit. The stakes were high for our losties in "The Shape of Things to Come". A mini-cliffhanger teased that Claire may have been killed in the commando's attack on Othersville. We were relieved to see that Claire survived, only to have Alex killed off one segment later. The episode also featured what seems to be a jump in time and location from Ben, as he awoke in the middle of the Sahara desert... in 2005 (a date which he himself needed to verify was correct). Other highlights included the revealing of Ben's secret room within his secret room, that appears to be an ancient cave, where one can apparently summon and control the Smoke Monster! It all ended with an enigmatic show down between Ben and Chuck... what exactly is the deal with their game?

After an action-packed episode last week, tonight we are treated to "Something Nice Back Home", a Jack-centric episode. More on that, after the jump.
