4x02_lapidus.jpgThe following was submitted by SWLS reader, Joshua Wilson:

Due to a recorder malfunction, I was not able to watch last night's episode of LOST, but I had read your post of the official blurb from ABC earlier in the day. It lists "Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus" among the credits. Since I couldn't watch the new episode of LOST, I did the next best thing and picked up the season 3 DVD and re-watched an episode. We watched the episode "Expose", and by sheer coincidence I decided to freeze frame on the shot of Nikki's Expose script where the cast is listed. What do you know, but there is another guy with the last name "Lapidus" listed as an actor for that episode of "Expose"! I suspect it's just a reuse of an interesting name by the show creators, but you never know what connections there are in the LOST universe. Incidentally, Lapidus means "candle," or "torch" according to Wikipedia. Reminds me of "Marvin Candle".

4x02_segmentRatings.jpg Last night, we launched a new feature on the site: Segment Ratings in the Live Group Watch area. During the live airings of LOST on the East and West Coasts, SWLS users had the opportunity to rate each segment of the episode during the commercial breaks. After compiling the vote data, we have an interesting look at which segments viewers enjoyed the most. Take a look at the graph by reading the rest of this article, then let us know if you agree or disagree with the ratings. We hope even more people will participate in next week's Live Group Watch and Segment Rating for "The Economist".

4x02 Christian 1During the flashback footage in 4x02, "Confirmed Dead", we get to see a clip of the Christiane I, which many of you will remember is the ship from the recent ARG (alternate reality game) find815. In this episode of LOST, the Christiane I is involved in the discovery of the wreckage of Flight 815 at the bottom of the Sunda Trench.

4x02 Is Eko in Ghost Boys House"Confirmed Dead", the second episode of the fourth season of LOST on ABC, seems to hold a big easter egg (at least potentially). In a flashback, Miles visits Ms. Gardner to do some ghostbusting (Who you gonna call? ... Miles?). Inside the house, we several photos on the walls, but one photo stands out as being different than all of the rest of them. It looks like it could have been taken outside, like outside in Africa! The photo of this boy shows up in 3 different places during the scene, obviously showing its importance. The photo appears in at least two different frames downstairs, and a shot from upstairs seems to show a third framing of the photo.

The resemblance, between Eko as a boy and the boy in the picture is certainly very close, and could indeed be the same person. But this raises many new questions as to why a picture of a boy who grew up in Nigeria and never stepped foot in America, as far as we know, could end up in this Californian home. One thing is certain, the ghost boy upstairs couldn't be Eko. But could he be related to Eko somehow? Only time will tell. What do you think?

4x02 Oceanic 815Although we've known for some time (Season 3) that the rest of the world believes that Oceanic Flight 815 was found at the bottom of the ocean, with bodies intact, it wasn't until "Confirmed Dead" that we actually got to see for ourselves the discovery of the 815 wreckage. But, we know the real Flight 815 wreckage is on the island! What's going on here? Cover up?

4x02 NewspaperFrom "Confirmed Dead", the entire seems to be astounded by the discovery of the wreckage of Oceanic Flight 815 at the bottom of the Sunda Trench. According to reports, all passengers are dead, forever entombed in the remains of the airship at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

4x02 Dharma Toy PlaneIn a flashback scene from "Confirmed Dead", the second episode of the fourth season of LOST, Frank drops a toy airplane into a fish tank while watching the news footage of Oceanic 815's discovery. There's a mark on top of the plane, which resembles a Dharma Logo. Or, maybe just a hole. It's hard to tell due to the blurriness. You make the call!

4x02 Photo of BenIn LOST Season 4 Episode 2, after learning Juliet was not on Flight 815, Miles reveals to Jack that they have come to the island to find Benjamin Linus. Accordingly, he whips out a photo of 70's looking Ben in some non-island location. While this is certainly interesting, nothing easter-eggish jumps at us from the photo. Do you see anything good?

4x02 Polar Bear Collar If you're going to take your pet polar bear for a walk, you definitely want to make sure that you have a collar on it, you know, in case it gets lost, or goes after that sexy polar bear on the other side of the street. In 4x02, island newcomer Charlotte is seen in a flashback visiting a strange dig site in Tunisia. She find the bones of a polar bear in the desert with a collar next to it bearing (no pun intended) the Dharma Hydra Station Logo. What?! How old is Dharma exactly? Why is there a polar bear in the desert with a Hydra logo? How does this tie in with Dharma Polar Bears on the island? Time travel? Teleportation? My head hurts! View a bigger image after the jump.

Episode 4x02 Confirmed DeadLast week LOST returned with the first episode of season 4, and as is typical of LOST, neatly wrapped up the season 3 finale for us. So for all intents and purposes, season 4 of LOST truly begins tonight with episode 2, titled Confirmed Dead. However, unlike past seasons of lost (specifically the slow start with the Others in season 3) word on the street is that Confirmed Dead jumps quickly into the action and back-story that brought the freighter people to the island. This is LOST, so we can certainly assume that we'll have some fresh new mysteries to digest and figure out, but the previews appear to show great potential that some of our questions about these newbies are going to be answered.

The remainder of this article may include some mild spoilers. More after the jump.

Thumbnail image for 4.02previewarticle.jpg Season 4 of LOST finally arrived last Thursday with an excellent premier episode. We discovered that Hurley makes it off the island alive and is one of the "Oceanic 6". But who are the six? It appears that Hurley, Kate and Jack make up three of the six survivors who become celebrities after being rescued and returned to reality. But, why is everything about the island kept secret? And how do they actually get off the island? Do they take the Not-Penny's-Boat? Who is really on that boat? This week, we might get some answers in Episode 2 of Season 4, "Confirmed Dead". The official ABC description states "The survivors begin to question the intentions of their supposed rescuers when four strangers arrive on the island." What a major disappointment it would be to find out your rescuers aren't there to rescue you!
