What's Hot: Season 6 Start Date Announced
One of the best parts about the experience of LOST, is talking about a new episode after it airs with other fans, coworkers, family members, friends, and random people you know via the web that follow the show. In this segment, we've decided to give you an inside look into the chats Astro and I engage in after each episode. It's not focused, and definitely unscripted - but we hope it is at least entertaining, sometimes insightful, and perhaps provides an interesting glimpse behind the curtain here at SWLS. Click the "continue" link below to delve into the madness.
The new seasons has started off with a big bang according to SWLS members. Both "Because You Left" and "The Lie" earned huge ratings that rank right up with the best episodes from the past. "Because You Left" earned a slightly higher 8.69 to "The Lie" rating of 8.64. Many posters stated that they wait on giving out 10's to that one episode that just blows them away. During season 4 that was 4x11 "Cabin Fever" which had a rating of 8.94. So the first two episodes earned huge ratings from very tough scorers. Neither episode earned a score lower than a 7, so no one was disappointed with season 5. We had some interesting themes come from the users comments.
As the episode fades up, we watch a couple of beers go up to the top deck of the Searcher with Frank, where the discussions about their future is being had by the O6 three years in the past. Almost everyone seems in agreement about what they need to do; even Frank. The one hold out is Hurley who really doesn't think they should lie. If they back each other up, he figures, they won't sound crazy. Sayid still thinks this is their only choice. Hurley scowls and tells him that if ever he needs his help someday, he wont give it. Flash forward to Hurley helping Sayid to safety after they were jumped in the safe house.

Ben, looking for a place to stash Locke's body, heads (where else) to a local Butcher Shop. He is greeted by Jill, who apparently is in on Ben's plan to get back to the island with the Oceanic Six. Is Locke's corpse really going to be sitting in the freezer at a butcher shop? Not a very pleasant thought, but I'm sure Locke wouldn't mind. More pics from the meat shop following the link below.

The mysterious elderly shop-keep we met in Desmond's excellent adventure seasons past returned tonight's episode, "The Lie". This time, we see Hawking (Jedi styled) working on some math problems in the basement of an old church. There's also a giant pendulum thing drawing marks on a map, which is duplicated on a Dharma-esque computer. It looks like she is hard at work finding a way back to the island for Ben and company. ABC has decided to follow up the preview episode of Season 5 with another new episode. This is not a two hour season premier but separate episode that was originally designed to be shown a week later. This episode is a Hurley centric show that will focus on the Oceanic 6 and the 'lie" they have been telling for the last three years. A sneak peek has already been released by abc. It shows the Oceanic 6 discussing "The Lie" on Penny's boat before they were "rescued". An earlier sneak peek showed Kate being given a court order for a paternity test for Aaron. It appears that forces are working behind the scenes to get the Oceanic 6 back together and to expose the truth.
Damon and Carlton have sent one more sneak peek to the participants of the Dharma Initiative online game. This one is from Season 5 episode 2 titled "The Lie" From the title it appears that this episode will focus on the lie told by the Oceanic 6. The sneak peek takes place after the Oceanic 6 are rescued by Penny, but before they leave to be "discovered". The are discussing the reason for "The Lie" and Hurley states that he wants to tell the truth. After all, the island is gone! The lie is also a major part of an earlier sneak peek that shows Kate being ordered to give a paternity test for Aaron. The Oceanic 6 lie must be a major part of season 5.
I'd love to be sitting here, telling you all my review of the first episodes of season 5 of Lost, but I am not among the lucky (or not so lucky) screeners who get to see the episode early in order to write about it. Lucky for us, we know someone who does have that privilege. If you follow the link below you can read DocArzt's review of episode 5.01 "Because You Left" & 5.02 "The Lie". Doc doesn't reveal any major plot points of the episode or spoilers, however if you are someone who avoids all spoilers no matter what, you might want to skip this article. Otherwise, give it a read. If you're like me, it'll just make you watch your clock even more over the next 22 days.
