5x12_smokey_toilet.jpgTonight we learned that all Ben had to do in order to summon the Smoke Monster was unclog the crapper. Once it's unstopped, ticked off Smokey comes a running. In addition we have images of Alex, Desmond getting shot by Ben, Ben bleeding under water, and the temple again. Follow the jump for images.

5x12_smokey_lair_1.jpgWhen Ben first enters Smokey's Lair, or the Temple catacombs, there are lots and lots of hieroglyphics and other Egyptian looking statues and such in the room. Follow the jump for a series of images of what Ben saw.

5x12_anubis_smokey.jpgWhen we saw the back of the statue a few weeks ago, it looked a lot like the Egyptian God of the Underworld, Anubis, but there were quite a few naysayers out there. I'm sure that even after another appearance by Anubis in tonight's episode, we'll still have those naysayers, and that's fine. Tonight, while Ben was in the Temple catacombs we got a glimpse of some drawings on the wall. Pictured above appears to be Anubis with Smokey in front of him. You could probably even say that on the left side that could be the donkey wheel. Also an Ankh and some snakes and some other random stuff. Let us know what your thoughts on this are after the jump.

5x05_temple_02.jpgWe also got our first look at the mysterious Temple we've heard so much about in tonight's episode. We learn that the temple (which is where Montaun lost his arm) has similar looking Glyphs on the side of it as what was used on the countdown timer in the Swan Station (the hatch). This seems a little odd when you consider that the Temple is supposedly an ancient building that predates the Dharma Initiative, and the Swan Station was built in the 70s/80s. It is also possible speculation at this point that the Temple may be Smokey's home. I base this mostly on the connection with Ben, who seemed to be able to call Smokey to the slaughter last season, and also is the one who sent his people to the Temple for safety. Ben has referred to the Temple as "the last safe place on the island."

5x05_smokey_01.jpgSmokey made his first full-fledged appearance in season 5 tonight, showing himself to Rousseau's team. First, poor Nadine disappears, and then when they look for her Smokey blows up some trees (ahh, just like old times) and grabs Montan. But what's more important is that we learn that Montan lost his arm while getting pulled down into a smokey hole. We also learn that what Danielle called the sickness was in regard to Smokey, and whatever he did to the rest of the team that went into the tunnel to rescue Montan. Anyone think Dr. Chang lost his arm in a similar accident?

More images after the jump.

TempleMapComparison.jpg Here's a closer look at the hand drawn map to the Temple that Ben passed along to Rousseau, Alex, and Carl in "Meet Kevin Johnson". The map is similar to the hand drawn map Dan and Charlotte used to find The Tempest Station. It's obviously a different map though. All you island charters, get to charting!
