What's Hot: Season 6 Start Date Announced
Episode 5.8 "LaFleur" marked the half way point of season 5. It was followed by a week off of new shows and it appears that most of the SWLS mods (including me) took some extra time off. But we are starting to wind it back up for the second half of the season. "LaFleur" was considered an average episode by Lost standards. An average rating of 7.89 is low for this season. The episode was enjoyed but not loved by the SWLS members. Follow the link to see what our members thought of this episode.
Today we have a special treat for our readers. One of our best theorist at SWLS, MangoBingo. He has written his thoughts on time travel. Enjoy his article and please leave us your comments and thoughts. We encourage any SWLS member to submit an article to any mod for publication. Enjoy!
With the advent of Season Five, the hottest topic of discussion amongst Lost fans hasn't been the usual dissection of Easter Eggs, hidden meanings, character connections or even "When will we see Smokey?"... It's time travel.
ABC has decided to follow up the preview episode of Season 5 with another new episode. This is not a two hour season premier but separate episode that was originally designed to be shown a week later. This episode is a Hurley centric show that will focus on the Oceanic 6 and the 'lie" they have been telling for the last three years. A sneak peek has already been released by abc. It shows the Oceanic 6 discussing "The Lie" on Penny's boat before they were "rescued". An earlier sneak peek showed Kate being given a court order for a paternity test for Aaron. It appears that forces are working behind the scenes to get the Oceanic 6 back together and to expose the truth.
It has been one of the longest, slowest moving hiatuses in history...at least for me! But in a little over 47 days the best show to ever grace the small screen will return to us once again. As previsously mentioned here, January 21 is the date, with a 1 hour recap special (I'm starting to love these!) followed by the first two episodes, back to back, of season 5.
It is no doubt that most of you probably noticed that as Lost took a hiatus, so did many of the familiar faces at SWLS. In fact, apparently only Juggy didn't have enough accumulated vacation time to escape for a few months (or perhaps he pissed off Sledge). Juggy has been the glue of our contributors here and has definitely held the site together, without any other help, for the entire hiatus. Thanks Juggy! Everyone else be sure to let Juggy know how much you appreciate his time, energy, and excitement.
But with SWLS back in action, and Lost soon to follow, its time to make this site one of your everyday stops. So add us back to your bookmarks, send all of your friends an email, subscribe to the RSS feed to stay in the loop on new articles. The Island commands this of you! And stay tuned for all of the latest and greatest Lost updates.
Sledgeweb users loved "Cabin Fever" giving it the highest rating of season 4. The SWLS faithful graced episode 4x11 with an 8.94 rating beating the next highest episode by just over a quarter of a point. An astonishing 92% gave "Cabin Fever" a rating of 8 or higher. There were 3 votes of 6 or lower and we will address those later in this article. The high rating of this episode got me wondering about which episodes were most liked by the users. The following is a numerical order of average rating of each episode.
#1 Cabin Fever 8.94
#2 The Constant 8.68
#3 Confirmed Dead 8.57
#4 Shape of Things 8.47
#5 Beggining of the End 8.46
#6 The Economist 8.37
#7 Ji Yeon 8.06
#8 Meet Kevin Johnson 7.54
#9 Eggtown 7.25
#10 Something Nice 7.04
#11 Other Woman 6.76
It is obvious that SWLS users enjoy episodes that center on the mythology of the island and the more science fiction aspects of the shows. They enjoy episodes that contain many questions and not a lot of answers. Our posters do not enjoy the romantic episodes nearly as much. Lets see why our users liked "Cabin Fever" with such a passion.
Season 4 part 2, started off with a bang, both literally and figuratively. 4x09 "The Shape Of Things To Come" got the viewers right back into the action, gave us some answers and many more questions. Lost came out of the gates with both guns blasting and a freiight train named Smokie. The SWLS users really liked this episode. An 8.4 overall rating shows a strong positive reaction to this episode. 84% of the voters gave it an 8 or higher. A user did give it a 1, but did not post a reason for that low score. Otherwise it was 6 or higher. SWLS members are very hard graders and compare Lost against it self not other shows. Many have stated that they are holding onto a 10 for the best episode ever. So an 8.4 average is a strong rating.
The only good thing about the upcoming hiatus, is that we have March Madness to fill the void! We're inviting all SWLS members to join us once again this year in a friendly brackets competition. Pick your teams, fill out the online bracket manager, and see how you do against other SWLS members. The winner takes home bragging rights, but mostly, it's all about having a lot of fun and enjoying the games with other friends for SWLS. If you'd like to participate, instructions on how to sign up can be found here. Good luck to everyone! The deadline for submitting your brackets is 11 AM EST on Thursday prior to the start of Round 1 games.
The new season is already four episodes old and it is time to exam what our memebers think of the season. After analyzing the poll results it is clear that our members are really enjoying this season. SWLS members have given this season an average rating of 8.2. The smooth addition of four new characters has gone over much better than the Nikki and Paulo mistake of last season. Let's take a closer look at each episode this season.
