What's Hot: Season 6 Start Date Announced
Daniel Faraday was only with us for 2 short seasons of Lost, but his impact has been huge, and his place in the mythology of Lost is forever set. Tonight, Daniel proved to us that although you can't go back in time and kill your own mother, you can go back in time and GET killed by your own mother. View the video just after the jump.
We got a glimpse of young Ethan tonight, hanging around with Ben as he went to kill Danielle, but ended up just stealing Alex from her. As confusing as things have become with Ethan's age I'm not sure if this event was intended to be pre-purge or post-purge. Ben's direct dealings with Charles made it seem definitely like it was post-purge, it's just hard to imagine Ethan being that young in 1992.
You can view any of the user requested images from tonight's episode in this thread. This week we have bizarro Claire, a Grocery Stock clerk, and Sawyer's little Clementine. Oh, and some pics of the 1977 Others and the Temple Richard takes Ben into.
This is the place for this week's user requested and miscellaneous screen caps. They include a shot of the two Others that Sawyer kills, Sawyer's "La Fleur" Dharma Jumper, complete with "star" dharma logo, Jerry (one of the Dharma guys that had to wake up La Fleur), Rosie and her Geronimo Jackson t-shirt, the doctor who didn't want to deliver Amy's baby, a chess board, and Sawyer aka LaFleur's newest book.
Images are all after the jump.
Today we have a special treat for our readers. One of our best theorist at SWLS, MangoBingo. He has written his thoughts on time travel. Enjoy his article and please leave us your comments and thoughts. We encourage any SWLS member to submit an article to any mod for publication. Enjoy!
With the advent of Season Five, the hottest topic of discussion amongst Lost fans hasn't been the usual dissection of Easter Eggs, hidden meanings, character connections or even "When will we see Smokey?"... It's time travel.
In 3x21, "Greatest Hits", Charlie unexpectedly finds himself inside the recently discovered "Looking Glass" hatch. He barely has time to catch his breath before two Amazonian Hatch Women march in with guns drawn. Looks like we have a new set of hatch monkeys. Juliet was under the assumption that the whole place was flooded, so... what exactly is going on down in "The Looking Glass"?
Special thanks to Dennis for the pics and info on this. There are two distinct pinball games in the rec room where Kate is being held captive. One of the machines is "Revenge from Mars". According to Wikipedia: Revenge From Mars is a 1999 pinball machine manufactured by Midway (under the Bally label). It is often considered to be a sequel to Attack From Mars, that also has the same theme. This game was the last machine manufactured by Midway and the first to use the Williams Pinball 2000 system that overlays interactive video onto the mechanical playfield.
It looks like a really cool pinball game to me. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenge_From_Mars
The second game is Cyclone. It seems to be a more standard Pinball type game. You can read more about it here: http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=617
There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not Locke blew up the sub. The sub is not visible in the shot of Locke kneeling on the pier, though previously we see it on the left. It also isn't clear why Locke is soaking wet when he returns from the sub. This leads some people to believe that he managed to pilot the sub by himself, move it, swim back to the pier, and blow up the end of the dock.
This leaves many questions hanging though. Wouldn't The Others notice the lack of any sub wreckage? How would he pilot the sub by himself? Where could he have placed it in such short time?
In 3x13, "The Man from Tallahassee", we get a good look inside some of the houses in Othersville. The living quarters seem to be well decorated with what appears to be paintings of the island. In addition, in Ben's place, there is an abundance of "primitive" wood carved art. Could this be a link to the four toed statue? As Patchy pointed out, The Others have been on the island for a very long time. Given the statue, and these wood carvings, is it possible that The Others are linked to an ancient civilization that inhabited the island? Or, perhaps Ben just collects these pieces when he visits the outside world.
In addition, there are a number of other unique pieces in Ben's place. Several pictures of a younger Alex. A picture of some woman sitting in a chair in the jungle holding something in her hands. A map of constellations (I think). A picture of a thatched roof hut. And some kind of drawing.
It all looks like very bad feng-shui to me.
After a long day of intercepting and blowing up makeshift rafts on the seas to abduct children, kidnapping a pregnant woman, hanging a washed up rock star, killing some random guy on the beach, convincing a survivor from a plane crash to lead some of his buddies into a trap, getting caught in a net, faking being the survivor of a balloon crash and getting caught (and beaten), going through surgery to remove a tumor ... well, you just need a place to unwind. A place where everybody knows your name. And, they're always glad you came. You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same. You want to be where everybody knows your name: OTHERSVILLE!
In 3x12, "Par Avion", we get a better look at the electrical map that Sayid took from The Flame station in 3x11, "Enter 77". The map shows the "barracks" where The Others live. It also has some indications about subterranean passages.
Mikhail asked Sayid to check the map to see if the security perimeter encircled the barracks. Indeed, the map does seem to show the pylons circling Camp Others.
Unfortunately, the map doesn't yield much else. It's very details, however, in terms of layout and positioning of the buildings located at the barracks.
It appears The Others have a nice book club going. Once again, LOST pays homage to Stephen King. The book The Others are reading is "Carrie", by Stephen King. We see at least three different versions of the book cover in 3x01.
On official Lost jigsaw puzzle pattern #2 ("The Others"), there is one image on the left middle side that is strangely out of place. It is a picture of a sign from Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute, screencaptured from episode "Dave" (bottom). It says "Rec Room Rules: Listen and Respect Others". There is no information as to why this photograph is included in a puzzle which is otherwise entirely of the OTHERS, or if this is a possible connection between them and SRMHI. It is possible that this is a play on words with the sign saying "Respect Others", but would still be difficult to explain as a joke.
Thanks to chadley420 for the tip and p0pnfresh20 from Lostpedia for the puzzle photo.
We get our first clear look at the OTHERS as a group in the finale.
At the end of this dock, there is a small covered deck that says "Pala Ferry". The Pala Ferry was first mentioned in "?" by Mark Wickmund/Dr. Marvin Candle as being the transportation for the trainees to go back to "the barracks".
In "Three Minutes", Michael is forced to march to The Others' camp. As they approach the camp, Michael looks up at what appears to be some kind of ruins atop a hill. The structure contains what seems to be a window, and a couple of walls.
In "Three Minutes", Michael is taken to THE OTHERS camp. He passes a HATCH DOOR being guarded by two men. The door is marked with a new DHARMA logo that we have not seen before. The logo consists of the standard BAGUA, with a rectangle in the center and the word DHARMA.
