What's Hot: Season 6 Start Date Announced
Tonight, we got to see Pierre Chang venture into the Orchid, back during the Dharma heyday when the Orchid was still being constructed. It seems an accident happened when they hit the chamber where the frozen donkey wheel resides. The images after the jump are the sonar imaging of that chamber and the donkey-wheel. There appear to be lots of numbers on the paper, but they are meaningless and random as far as I can tell. IF you see something we don't, let us know!
Season 5 started with another Desmond in the hatch type of scene. Groovy music, old 70's stuff, and PIerre Chang, aka Marvin Candle getting out of bed and going about his day (okay, so that last part wasn't in the season 3 opener, technically). He goes into a room where a baby, we assume his baby, is smiling in the crib.
So why is this important or relevant you may ask? Because it makes one wonder if Baby Chang was born on the island. Was this prior to when the island had an issue with pregnancy?
I was originally going to title this article, "The Many Faces Of Marvin Candle..uh, I mean Mark Wickmund, crap, I mean Edgar Halliwax, or is it Pierre Chang. Oh hell, you get the idea" but that seemed like an awefully long title for such a short article. I think you all get the idea. Actor Francois Chau (that's his real life name!) has had the unique fortune of being the only character in the entire show 4 names (to date).
Thanks to a new video released this past summer at Comic con, it seems that we've finally discovered that our favorite Dharma scientists real name is Pierre Chang. I saw what's being called The Barracks video for the first time yesterday, and found it astounding. I'd heard about it last summer, of course, but in my lazy, Lost hiatus mood chose not to watch it at the time. But it got me wondering who else hadn't seen it yet. And for that matter, who else out there has forgotten about the other fantastic videos we've seen from this Dharma Scientist. So follow the jump and refresh yourself on the many faces of....oh hell, you know who I mean.
Ben's nice desert jacket bears an interesting name on the front of it. For those of you who may have missed it, Halliwax was the name that Marvin Kandle used in the Orchid video that was released before season 4 begun.
Our old friend Marvin Candle (aka Mark Wickmund, aka Chuck Waxly <-- my own contribution) makes a return appearance in 3x11, "Enter 77". Indeed, it is our favorite one armed Asian mad scientist that provides the title of the episode we he prompts, "Enter 77" to report hostile presence. In what seems to be a ridiculous computer prompt, recordings of the good Doc appear to read menu items and provide feedback on execution. Why the menu would not appear simply in text, but have loops of film repeat instead, is a bit bizarre and counter intuitive. I'm sure old Marvin had to be sitting there at the Flame station thinking to himself, "Why am I recording all these menu items and responses when it could just appear on the screen as text?". In this film, it is much more obvious that Wickle has a fake left arm. In the Pearl video, however, it appears that Wickmund has use of his left arm.
When Eko has his dream vision at the beginning of "?", there are a series of images that flash quickly. These all appear to be images from previous episodes of LOST, and include:
The Burning Plane
Eko's necklace
Marvin Candle from the Orientation film
The Teddy Bear
Others
In episode "?", Eko and Locke find an orientation video for Station 5, "The Pearl". The presenter for this video, is Mark Wickmund (a play on Candle?), who we previously know from "The Swan" Orientation film as Marvin Candle. Apparently, Candle/Wickmund is a man of many names (all related to illumination).
