The production of season 6 of Lost is starting to rev up with the casting of two new characters. Hiroyuki Sanada and John Hawkes will play recurring characters in the up coming season of Lost. John Hawkes will play a character called Lennon who is a spokesperson/translator for the president of a foreign corporation, as well a "wily negotiator who is far more powerful than his lowly position would seem to indicate. Could he be working for Widmore or Hanso? Hiroyuki Sananda character is not as well defined. Only word coming out is that it is a signifiganct recurring role.
ABC is starting a new online experience to get us through the long hiatus. Lost University will open on September 22nd. (anniversary of 815 crash) The website is up and running and you can sign up for e-mail updates. There is not alot of information on the site yet. You can see the course listings that include Ancient Writing On The Wall, I'm Lost Therefore I Am, I'm Right You're Wrong The Us vs Them Mentality and Advanced Physics of Time Travel. Of course the store is open for business. This is basically an elaborate advertisement for the Season 5 DVD sale, but that does not mean we can not have fun with this activity. Check back for any updates. We will be discussing Lost University here. Join in on the fun.
LOST has been firing on all cylinders as of late, keeping a frantic pace leading up to the season finale. Tonight's two part issue brings with it the conclusion of LOST's fifth season. There is sure to be a lot of action, mystery, death and game changing in "The Incident". What remains to be seen, is whether or not our time traveling losties have the ability to alter the past. Or, has what happens, always happened? Prepare to have your minds blown with the exciting season finale, "The Incident". Details after the jump.
LOST producers had to triple their guyliner budget for tonight's Richard centric episode, "Follow the Leader". But, will that manscara investment be a worthy payoff for fans? Richard has long been one of LOST's greatest enigmas: he is seemingly ageless, has kept the same look for the last 60 years (except that one day in the 70's where he hippied out), wears eyeliner, and leads the Others without really leading them. Is he an alien, an ancient Egyptian god or pharoah, Ponce de Leon, an island native? Tonight's episode looks like it may give us some hints, and at the very least, provide more mythology for fans to ponder heading into the two part season finale. It all goes down tonight on ABC! Follow the jump for more details and a preview of "Follow the Leader".
After tonight's episode, I think the word running through most people's thoughts was "wow". Next week's offering has a lot to live up to, and with a Richard centric episode, it just might deliver. Follow the jump to get a second look at the trailer for LOST Season 5 Episode 15, "Follow the Leader". Is Richard the leader, or the one following the leader(s)?
Daniel Faraday has been noticeably absent from the time traveling Dharma work men for quite some time, but he finally made an appearance in "Some Like it Hoth". So, what exactly has Dan been up to off-island, in Ann Arbor? Hanging out with the DeGroots? Trying to figure out a way to get his fellow future folk back to their proper time? Or perhaps studying up on those pesky rules of time travel, and figuring out a way to change things without collapsing the universe - or at least to find out what can be changed? We know Desmond is the Constant, so does that make Faraday "The Variable"? Strap in for more time travel fun with tonight's episode! More info after the jump.
I'm back!! After a very busy time and a fantastic vacation it is time to get back to my episode rating reviews. I want to thank Laklost for filling in for me last week and doing two episode reviews. It was fantastic and a hard act to follow. Thank you Laklost, you are the best!!
I was stunned after watching "Some Like it Hoth". Not stunned because it was such a great episode, but stunned that our users liked it so much. They gave it a 8.52 average, which was dragged down some by a two and my 6. I am usually not that far off in opinion from our users. 76% gave this episode a 9 or 10 rating! Follow the break to see some of their comments.
LOST takes a day off next week, although we do get a new special. Episode 5x14, "The Variable" will air in two weeks. You can take a second look at the preview attached to "Some Like it Hoth" after the jump. It looks like things continue to head south for our time-traveling losties. Every so often, LOST hits us with a mind-blowing episode that reminds us why we love this show so much. Expectations are running high that tonight's offering, "Dead is Dead", will be that kind of episode. After all, last week teased us with a trip back to the future where a resurrected Locke finally had the chance to confront his killer, Ben Linus. Tonight, it looks like we'll see more of this confrontation as well as some of Ben's off-island goings on. Will we learn more about Ben and his relationship with the island and it's mysterious powers? What is Locke's destiny, now that he has conquered death and returned to the island? Will we finally see Richard Alpert traversing the island atop smokey, "yee-hawing" all the while, to judge Ben's transgressions (and then have Smokey eat him)? Tune in tonight for the Ben-Locke showdown! More details after the jump!
Spring Cleaning continues here at SWLS. We're still trying to pack up our "Protagonists" box. I need a whole box just for Locke. He's always been his own unique man, and he's always been dealing with boxes physical or metaphysical, so I think he'd be happy with his own. The fact of the matter is that no category correctly holds Locke. We talked about seven groups of people in the story of Lost. Locke has never been fully a part of any of them, and it appears that even in death he is an anomaly. I contend that not only does he not fit into any of the groups of people but he actually supersedes them all. He is the New Man, greater than the ones before him.
Want a second look at the trailer at the end of tonight's episode for next week's Dead is Dead? We've got it here for you. Locke is back! Ben survives! I guess they will have something to talk about next week. Follow the continue reading link to view the preview in glorious YouTube.
Last week we were all stunned (or perhaps not so stunned) to see Sayid shoot young Ben Linus, thinking that it is his purpose in life to put an end to the horrors that Ben will commit as he grows up. Of course, Sayid didn't stop to think that perhaps this is what always happened, and the reason Ben grew up to be such a jerk was because some crazy Iraqi shot him in the jungle when he was a child. Tonight, in episode 5.11, "Whatever Happened, Happened" we get to see just what young Ben's fate is, and if Daniel was right and whatever happened, happened. Feel free to let us know in the comments what you're hoping for in tonight's episode. Personally, I'm hoping for some Richard Alpert and some Locke (how long has it been since we saw him?). So let us know what you think. Or, discuss tonight's episode in the Hype Thread! For more details and a preview, just turn the page.
This week on Lost we had a whole lot of angsty moments across the years for Sayid. What we didn't have was Locke, Desmond, a catfight, Miles, a plausible reason for Sayid's distrust of Ben, Daniel, torture, Rose & Bernard, a perspective on rural life, or any interesting kind of action for about 52 minutes.
Note: The following story was an April Fools joke. However, regardless of its lack of truth, it is very entertaining and funny. Enjoy.
In a bizarre series of events, not unlike many of the plot-lines in the veteran island mystery drama, LOST co-creator, executive producer, showrunner and writer, Damon Lindelof, has abruptly broken all ties with ABC and quit the show, just a few weeks before the hit series' fifth season finale. The unexpected departure has left ABC executives and LOST producers scrambling to quiet concerns over the series future. Lindelof has largely been regarded as the driving force behind LOST, and the main source and inspiration for the shows overall direction. His premature exit has many industry insiders questioning whether or not the sci-fi pop-phenom will even return for it's sixth and final season next year. More after the jump.
It's time for some spring cleaning. I have all this information, all this conjecturing and theorizing about Lost crammed into my head. I have a serious need to open the door, let the dust mites go scattering, and lay all this stuff out on the floor and organize it!
There are several huge questions that for the narrative have to be addressed in order for the story to resolve. Who are the powers vying for the island? How will the island relate to the struggle? What will the struggle mean for our protagonists? We'll call these three questions our three cleaning boxes. I've heard it said that the best way to sort clutter is to have three boxes marked Throw, Move, Give. It must be very smart to use that system - I wouldn't know! But I can mark our Lost spring cleaning boxes Power, Island and Protagonists. Knowing how us Lost-phytes love to parce words I better clear up what I mean by each of these.
"Namaste" and "He's Our You" both delved into the world of the Dharma Initiative circa 1977. We got to see Sawyer, Juliet, Jin, Miles and now Kate, Jack and Hurley become part of the happy island colony. This is what we have been waiting for this entire season. The return to the island and the story of the reunited Losties has been told to us, to very mixed results. The SWLS members rated "Namaste" with a 7.71 rating and a "He's Our You" as a 7.08. These are very low ratings for a Lost episodes. Continue after the break to see what our members had to say about these episodes.
It's Thursday! That means it's time to talk LOST with your friends, family and coworkers - pondering the mysteries and implications of the latest episode together in efforts to keep sanity loosely grasped. Astro and I tackled the latest episode, "He's Our You" in an online chat last night. In this edition of Talking LOST, we discuss once again the Alternate Timeline Theory versus the It's Always Happened This Way Theory, Hippie Alpert, Sawyer's handling of the situation, and the preview for next week's episode. DocArzt also drops in and sets us on a new investigation, which you will only see here in a behind the scenes sort of way. Follow the link below for all the fun!
Want a second look at the trailer at the end of tonight's episode for next week's What Ever Happened, Happened? We've got it here for you. While we ponder the ramification of a young Ben being shot by Sayid, perhaps the distraction of next week's sneak peek will be welcomed. Follow the continue reading link to view the preview in glorious YouTube.
Who is He? Who is Our? And, who is You? Such a simple title, yet so intriguing. Tonight's "He's Our You", the tenth episode of Season 5, will hopefully answer at least those questions.
