Tonight we saw John Locke talking with Caesar, and the other survivors of Ajira flight 316. We saw from the wreckage of the plane that they crashed on the small island that houses the Hydra Station. The station appears to be abandoned, and if Locke and company are indeed in the same time as Jack, Kate, and Hurley, during Dharma's heyday, then why would the Hydra be abandoned. The answer, John Locke and company (including Frank and Sun) crashed on the present day island, while Jack, Kate, and Hurley "flashed" to the island's past.
If you're going to take your pet polar bear for a walk, you definitely want to make sure that you have a collar on it, you know, in case it gets lost, or goes after that sexy polar bear on the other side of the street. In 4x02, island newcomer Charlotte is seen in a flashback visiting a strange dig site in Tunisia. She find the bones of a polar bear in the desert with a collar next to it bearing (no pun intended) the Dharma Hydra Station Logo. What?! How old is Dharma exactly? Why is there a polar bear in the desert with a Hydra logo? How does this tie in with Dharma Polar Bears on the island? Time travel? Teleportation? My head hurts! View a bigger image after the jump.
The new logo for the Hydra was revealed in the official Lost podcast of Oct 3 (video), before the show "A Tale of Two Cities" revealed this new station and symbol.
Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are being held in the remnants of the Hydra Station - apparently the station that was conducting zoological studies on species such as sharks, dolphins, and bears. This explains the Dharma logo we saw on the Shark earlier - though it should be noted the logo on the shark does not appear to be the Hydra logo.
