5x14_wired.jpgWhen Charles Widmore comes to visit a broken down and memory deprived Daniel Faraday, just after the Oceanic wreckage was found, we get a quick glimpse of a magazine on the couch. That magazine is an August 2003 issue of WIRED. The cover says, "The Super Power Issues," as well as "The Impossible Gets Real." There is also a mention of Time Travel on the cover as well.

5x14_dead_dan.jpgDaniel Faraday was only with us for 2 short seasons of Lost, but his impact has been huge, and his place in the mythology of Lost is forever set. Tonight, Daniel proved to us that although you can't go back in time and kill your own mother, you can go back in time and GET killed by your own mother. View the video just after the jump.

Daniel Faraday has been noticeably absent from the time traveling Dharma work men for quite some time, but he finally made an appearance in "Some Like it Hoth". So, what exactly has Dan been up to off-island, in Ann Arbor? Hanging out with the DeGroots? Trying to figure out a way to get his fellow future folk back to their proper time? Or perhaps studying up on those pesky rules of time travel, and figuring out a way to change things without collapsing the universe - or at least to find out what can be changed? We know Desmond is the Constant, so does that make Faraday "The Variable"? Strap in for more time travel fun with tonight's episode! More info after the jump.

5x08_charlotte_girl.jpgA couple of episodes ago we got to see Charlotte explain to Daniel how a man scared her on the island as a child, telling her to leave and never come back. She thought that man was Daniel. Tonight, it seemed to plague Daniel, and he uttered more than once that he 'wouldn't tell her this time.' But the hardest moment for him by far came in the Dharma camp, when he actually spotted the future girl of his dreams as innocent as ever.

5x07_faraday_journal.jpgCaesar locates some files in The Hydra station that includes Dan Faraday's map and one of his journal pages concerning time travel. Also included is Rousseau's map. We've seen that Dan will eventually go to the Orchid station during Dharma's final days. Now, we also know he makes a trip to the Hydra (or someone takes his papers there, anyways). Those papers are still there 30 years later when Ajira 316 crashes on the island (if we assume the crash occurs in 2007). Now, let this blow your mind. Before Rousseau even begins drawing her map, before she even conceives of it, there is already a finished version of that map laying in the Hydra Station. Therefore, once she does draw her map, there are then two identical copies of it on the island. The same applies to Dan's map and his journal page. Take a look using the link below.

021609blitzwing.jpgIf you haven't already read AstroJones' article titled "A Response to Jugdish: Time is a Two-by-Four...", I suggest you do....it talks about the two major types of Time Travel depicted in Sci-Fi shows & movies. Also if you ever plan to build a time machine and go back in time to kill Hitler, his article will prepare you for some of the possible problems you may face.

I really enjoyed his article, and wrote a lengthy response about my in-depth thoughts about Time Travel which I've had over the years. Surprisingly it fits in well with what's been happening on Lost. Even more surprising, some people not only understood my ramblings, but enjoyed it. So here I attempt to touch up my initial ramblings on AstroJones' article for the front page.

Today we have a special treat for our readers. One of our best theorist at SWLS, MangoBingo. He has written his thoughts on time travel. Enjoy his article and please leave us your comments and thoughts. We encourage any SWLS member to submit an article to any mod for publication. Enjoy!

With the advent of Season Five, the hottest topic of discussion amongst Lost fans hasn't been the usual dissection of Easter Eggs, hidden meanings, character connections or even "When will we see Smokey?"... It's time travel.

Jughead Hydrogen BombDaniel and company quickly realize that Richard and his band of Others have a big problem on their hands in the form of a hydrogen bomb. When Daniel is finally taken to the bomb, we see that the episode shares the name with the bomb, Jughead. Daniel has to quickly tell Ellie (his mom) that they need to bury the bomb to avoid destroying the island before he flashes to another time. But did you know that there was a real nuclear test code-named Jughead that took place in 1954? Follow the jump for more info.

5x03 Daniel Faradays Mom Ms Hawking (Eloise)Ever since last week when a time traveling Daniel Faraday told in-the-past Desmond to go find his mom, many have been speculating that his mother was the infamous Ms. Hawking. After all, they both share a love for chalkboards and math, so why not make the connection. Well, tonight we got some fairly solid proof that our suspicions were correct.

If you watched the repeat of 5x02 tonight, at the end when Ms. Hawking is shown, the popup message at the bottom of the screen identifies her as Eloise Hawking. This is the first time we've been given her first name.

5x01_journal1.jpgTonight we managed to get a few shots of Daniel's Journal again. Several of the pages look similar to the ones we saw last year, and they mostly appear to contain equations.

There has been some Lost news making its way out from the current filming in Hawaii. Reliable information is few and far between but sources at tvguide.com and ew.com have come across a few new items.
-A second new character has been cast. Said Taghimaoui, a Frenchman seen in traitor, will play Caesar. Not much is known about Caesar except that he is mysterious and will be associated with Llana, a new character played by Zuleikha Robinson. Carlton Cuse stated that Caesar will play "an important part of the setup for the final act of the show in season 6".
-Michelle Rodriquez will appear in the second episode along with Cheech Marin. It appears that Hurley will be seeing dead people again.
-Desmond has filmed a scene with Ben.
-Hurley has filmed a scene in a jail.
-Sawyer, Juliet, Daniel, Miles, Charlotte and some one else will learn of Jin's fate at the precise moment we do during episode 4.
-Claire will not be in season 5 but will be back for season 6.
Please post your thoughts about these tidbits. SWLS would like to hear your thoughts and prediction for season 5.

4x05_chalkboard.jpgIf Dan's Journal didn't give you enough information to break your mind, maybe his chalkboard is up to the task. The creator's of LOST went full force into Time Travel with "The Constant". A time traveling rodent named Eloise gave us a glimpse into what might be happening with Desmond. Maybe. Right? But, what about Minkowski? Did he travel through time? I'm not sure, but if you want to be even more confused, I have some images of Dan's chalkboard uploaded. Just click the Continue Reading link to complete your mind's destruction. Or... maybe it's not really all that complicated. Take a look and find out!

4x05_pilotMap.jpgIn "The Constant", for the first time, we successfully see one of the 815ers leave the island. We know people have been able to get out using the sub, before Locke blew it up, but haven't seen anyone else leave. We know Michael was told to leave by boat, keeping to a 325 heading. Dan's map for the Lawnmower Man indicated he should head North at 305 degrees. Why is this different than the Boat? I'm not sure. But, figuring this out may be easier than decoding Dan's journal, or his chalkboard. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

4x05_faradayJournal.jpg"The Constant" was a mind blowing episode. In more ways than one. Everyone's going to be hitting up their astrophysicist friend tomorrow to help them explain what the heck was going on. Especially if you looked into Dan Faraday's journal... or chalkboard. Up until this point, the writer's of LOST have avoided any blatant paradoxes in their time travel stories, but not this time. Here goes the mind bending question of the night (which was asked in the episode), wouldn't Faraday remember his encounter with Desmond? It also appears than past-Dan first learned of the "formula" when Desmond told him the numbers from future-Dan, who got the numbers from his notebook... when he met Des... ah, never mind, I have a headache. It sure looked like future-Dan had never seen that note about Desmond being his constant until he was reading it on the beach. Ah well. Hopefully Sam and Ziggy will pop in and explain everything to us next week. Jump the break to see more pictures from the journal, and lets see what we can figure out!

Faraday2.jpgOne of the most intriguing things Lost has brought to us in Season 4 is the addition of a few new cast members, The Freighter People.  The objectives of Naomi's team of experts and the reasons that they were chosen were important enough to be the subject of the first flashback of the season.  For me, the most interesting of these new arrivals is Daniel Faraday.  After the confirmation of the time "issue", for lack of a better word, as a result of the rocket firing test, and his realization that there is only a very narrow beam to follow in and out of the island, it is obvious that Mr. Faraday is going to play a major role in this series.  However, it is equally apparent that Mr. Faraday has issues of his own to deal with.
