lost_5x15_locke_looking_self.jpgThe Locke we saw tonight was certainly a different John Locke than we're used to seeing. Tonight he was assertive, confident, sure of himself, and most of all, he had a plan and a purpose...oh, and a pig. Locke took Richard and Ben to go find himself at the beechcraft, give himself the compass, and give himself the instructions that he knew he'd need in order to fulfill the remainder of his destiny. Kinda weird, huh? I know many of you are screaming paradox, but I hate that word, so I'll be referring to it as spontaneous happenstance from now on. To see the scene again, follow the jump!

lost_5x15_ben_stunned.jpg"Follow the Leader" ended on quite a dramatic and shocking note tonight as Locke revealed to Ben that he wasn't going to see Jacob to reunite with his people. He was going to see Jacob to kill him. Why? Well, your guess is as good as ours, but at this point the stock answer seems to be "The island told me to do it." What was even more interesting was how troubled Richard seemed to be about taking Locke, and the others to Jacob. It almost made me wonder if Ben wasn't the one originally keeping Jacob locked up (remember when Locke first saw Jacob and he whispered, "save me" to him?). What if Richard has played a part in keeping Jacob locked up as well. And what's more, am I the only one who thought that the island and Jacob were one in the same, or linked together in some way? Follow the jump for this video investigation.

Thumbnail image for 042409miles.jpgI'm back!! After a very busy time and a fantastic vacation it is time to get back to my episode rating reviews. I want to thank Laklost for filling in for me last week and doing two episode reviews. It was fantastic and a hard act to follow. Thank you Laklost, you are the best!!

I was stunned after watching "Some Like it Hoth". Not stunned because it was such a great episode, but stunned that our users liked it so much. They gave it a 8.52 average, which was dragged down some by a two and my 6. I am usually not that far off in opinion from our users. 76% gave this episode a 9 or 10 rating! Follow the break to see some of their comments.

5x12_risk.jpgEver since Sun and Frank went back to Othersville a couple of weeks ago, and we got to see the condition the barracks were in, plus the fact that there were apparantly still Dharma photos hanging up, people started to cry alternate timeline. I mean, how else could the barracks look SO different than when we last saw them. The theory was that something must have been changed in the past to cause the difference. But tonight when Ben entered his old house he looked at a Risk board laying on a table, a subtle clue that nothing has changed.

manhattan-locke-dead-is-dead.jpgEvery so often, LOST hits us with a mind-blowing episode that reminds us why we love this show so much. Expectations are running high that tonight's offering, "Dead is Dead", will be that kind of episode. After all, last week teased us with a trip back to the future where a resurrected Locke finally had the chance to confront his killer, Ben Linus. Tonight, it looks like we'll see more of this confrontation as well as some of Ben's off-island goings on. Will we learn more about Ben and his relationship with the island and it's mysterious powers? What is Locke's destiny, now that he has conquered death and returned to the island? Will we finally see Richard Alpert traversing the island atop smokey, "yee-hawing" all the while, to judge Ben's transgressions (and then have Smokey eat him)? Tune in tonight for the Ben-Locke showdown! More details after the jump!

watercooler.gifWhatever Happened, Happened gave us some interesting scenes, if not a compelling overall episode. Still, we got to see the return of Locke, Ben being sent off to be Otherized, and a couple of great conversations between Hurley and Miles. In this week's Talking LOST, Astro and I discuss the inevitability of stale snacks, free will versus pre-destination, the relationship between Widmore and Eloise, and our future careers as inept vigilante super heroes. Somehow, it all related to last night's LOST (I think). Follow the link to read our conversation.

Last week we were all stunned (or perhaps not so stunned) to see Sayid shoot young Ben Linus, thinking that it is his purpose in life to put an end to the horrors that Ben will commit as he grows up. Of course, Sayid didn't stop to think that perhaps this is what always happened, and the reason Ben grew up to be such a jerk was because some crazy Iraqi shot him in the jungle when he was a child. Tonight, in episode 5.11, "Whatever Happened, Happened" we get to see just what young Ben's fate is, and if Daniel was right and whatever happened, happened. Feel free to let us know in the comments what you're hoping for in tonight's episode. Personally, I'm hoping for some Richard Alpert and some Locke (how long has it been since we saw him?). So let us know what you think. Or, discuss tonight's episode in the Hype Thread! For more details and a preview, just turn the page.

033009.laklost.jpg It's time for some spring cleaning. I have all this information, all this conjecturing and theorizing about Lost crammed into my head. I have a serious need to open the door, let the dust mites go scattering, and lay all this stuff out on the floor and organize it!

There are several huge questions that for the narrative have to be addressed in order for the story to resolve. Who are the powers vying for the island? How will the island relate to the struggle? What will the struggle mean for our protagonists? We'll call these three questions our three cleaning boxes. I've heard it said that the best way to sort clutter is to have three boxes marked Throw, Move, Give. It must be very smart to use that system - I wouldn't know! But I can mark our Lost spring cleaning boxes Power, Island and Protagonists. Knowing how us Lost-phytes love to parce words I better clear up what I mean by each of these.

watercooler.gifIt's Thursday! That means it's time to talk LOST with your friends, family and coworkers - pondering the mysteries and implications of the latest episode together in efforts to keep sanity loosely grasped. Astro and I tackled the latest episode, "He's Our You" in an online chat last night. In this edition of Talking LOST, we discuss once again the Alternate Timeline Theory versus the It's Always Happened This Way Theory, Hippie Alpert, Sawyer's handling of the situation, and the preview for next week's episode. DocArzt also drops in and sets us on a new investigation, which you will only see here in a behind the scenes sort of way. Follow the link below for all the fun!

2009-03-25_ben_linus.jpgWho is He? Who is Our? And, who is You? Such a simple title, yet so intriguing. Tonight's "He's Our You", the tenth episode of Season 5, will hopefully answer at least those questions. Go ahead and get your bets in now in the comments below. Let us know what you think. watercooler.gifOne of the best parts about the experience of LOST, is talking about a new episode after it airs with other fans, coworkers, family members, friends, and random people you know via the web that follow the show. In this segment, we've decided to give you an inside look into the chats Astro and I engage in after each episode. It's not focused, and definitely unscripted - but we hope it is at least entertaining, sometimes insightful, and perhaps provides an interesting glimpse behind the curtain here at SWLS. Episode 5x06 "316" set a new ratings record with an incredible 9.35 average. SWLS members absolutely loved this episode. 73% of all votes were a perfect 10. 92% of all votes were for scores of 8 or higher. There was a vote one vote each for a rating of 6 or 7. Neither voter posted a reason for those ratings. Viewers want the main characters of Lost to be together and we now have the Oceanic 6 (minus Aaron) back on the island with Sawyer, Jin, Juliet and friends. Watching the Oceanic 6 converge on the same flight with Ben and Frank Lapidus was true television magic. Please go to the next page to see the SWLS users' comments on this outstanding episode.

5x06_comic_book_y_the_last_man.jpgThematic literary references related to LOST often pop up in the show. In "316", we get a long glimpse of Hurley reading a spanish version of "Y: The Last Man". The story is about "the only man to survive the mysterious simultaneous death of every male mammal on Earth. " Find more HERE. We also see Ben reading James Joyce's Ulysses on the plane. "Almost every variety of human experience is crammed into the accordian folds of a single day, which makes Ulysses not just an experimental work but the very last word in realism. " More on that one, HERE. Pics after the jump.

5x05_temple_02.jpgWe also got our first look at the mysterious Temple we've heard so much about in tonight's episode. We learn that the temple (which is where Montaun lost his arm) has similar looking Glyphs on the side of it as what was used on the countdown timer in the Swan Station (the hatch). This seems a little odd when you consider that the Temple is supposedly an ancient building that predates the Dharma Initiative, and the Swan Station was built in the 70s/80s. It is also possible speculation at this point that the Temple may be Smokey's home. I base this mostly on the connection with Ben, who seemed to be able to call Smokey to the slaughter last season, and also is the one who sent his people to the Temple for safety. Ben has referred to the Temple as "the last safe place on the island."

5x04_van.jpgBen is scene driving a van that clearly says Canton-Rainier Carpet Cleaning on the side of it. Based on LOSTs love affair with anagrams its no surprise to us that Canton-Rainier is an anagram for Reincarnation. Is this actually a clue for us, or just a simple red herring?

Ben, looking for a place to stash Locke's body, heads (where else) to a local Butcher Shop. He is greeted by Jill, who apparently is in on Ben's plan to get back to the island with the Oceanic Six. Is Locke's corpse really going to be sitting in the freezer at a butcher shop? Not a very pleasant thought, but I'm sure Locke wouldn't mind. More pics from the meat shop following the link below.

lost-sneakpeak2sm.jpgThe following video is a sneak peak clip released today featuring a short scene with Jack and Ben discussing Locke. This is a scene from the upcoming premiere episode of Lost and therefore should be considered a spoiler. I didn't feel that it revealed anything significant, and was more of a teaser, but view at your own discretion.
