What's Hot: Season 6 Start Date Announced
One of the best parts about the experience of LOST, is talking about a new episode after it airs with other fans, coworkers, family members, friends, and random people you know via the web that follow the show. In this segment, we've decided to give you an inside look into the chats Astro and I engage in after each episode. It's not focused, and definitely unscripted - but we hope it is at least entertaining, sometimes insightful, and perhaps provides an interesting glimpse behind the curtain here at SWLS. Click the "continue" link below to delve into the madness.
The new seasons has started off with a big bang according to SWLS members. Both "Because You Left" and "The Lie" earned huge ratings that rank right up with the best episodes from the past. "Because You Left" earned a slightly higher 8.69 to "The Lie" rating of 8.64. Many posters stated that they wait on giving out 10's to that one episode that just blows them away. During season 4 that was 4x11 "Cabin Fever" which had a rating of 8.94. So the first two episodes earned huge ratings from very tough scorers. Neither episode earned a score lower than a 7, so no one was disappointed with season 5. We had some interesting themes come from the users comments.
"Because You Left" blew away any doubt that time travel is going to play a big part during season 5.The Losties plus Julite (she will be included in the Losties for this article) are skipping through time due to Ben turning the frozen donkey wheel (or is it because the Oceanic 6 left?). I have been against the idea of time travel throughout the series. Even with the "Constant", I was satisfied that it was just Desmond's conscience traveling through time. The Losties are time traveling and I have come to accept this plot line. I am at least satisfied that it appears to be a linear form of time travel, not parallel universes.
Segment ratings are up for 5x01, "Because You Left" and 5x02, "The Lie". Sure, he can move an island, but can Benjamin Linus convince five morally opposite castaways to return to an isolated outpost of mystery and uncertainty? In 70 hours? He has to begin somewhere. In last season's finale he starts by recruiting a drug addled and guilt ridden Jack. In this past Wednesday's Season 5 opener, the two men, and the corpse of John Locke, begin a quest to convince the other Oceanic 6-ers to go baaaack to the island.
The time is finally here for our favorite show to return! The season premier of season 5 of Lost will air January 21 at 9pm eastern time. We have seen fabulous early reviews from docArtz and from Jeff Jensen. Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse have provided us with three sneak peeks and countless trailers. The build up has been increasing and the long wait is soon over! But what exactly can we expect from our first new episode in nearly eight months?

I'd love to be sitting here, telling you all my review of the first episodes of season 5 of Lost, but I am not among the lucky (or not so lucky) screeners who get to see the episode early in order to write about it. Lucky for us, we know someone who does have that privilege. If you follow the link below you can read DocArzt's review of episode 5.01 "Because You Left" & 5.02 "The Lie". Doc doesn't reveal any major plot points of the episode or spoilers, however if you are someone who avoids all spoilers no matter what, you might want to skip this article. Otherwise, give it a read. If you're like me, it'll just make you watch your clock even more over the next 22 days.
