popmech-smokeylair.jpgWhile most of us are sitting around, writing silly little blog posts about what exactly the statue could be, Popular Mechanics is going straight to the source, and asking James P. Allen, a Wilbour Professor of Egyptology and Chair of Egyptology and Ancient Western Asian Studies at Brown University just what the deal is. You can check out Professor Allen's taken on it by following the link below to the Popular Mechanics website.

cover020509_darts.jpgFor several episodes now we've been shown strange men with dart guns shooting mostly at Sayid. But is the dart gun tech on Lost accurate or are they just blowing smokey up our butts? The team over at Popular Mechanics, with some help from Randy Junge, a vet and Director of Animal Health at the St. Louis Zoo, delve into Lost's Dart Gun Tech this week. Click on the jump link to read their article.

Jughead Lost Time travel theory speculationTime travel sure is messy, isn't it? Last week, and again today, Jugdish wrote articles talking about his frustration, as a non-sci-fi geek (unlike myself) in understanding it all. I'm a huge sci-fi fan, and always have been, but I too was hoping they wouldn't go down this road. Not because I don't like it, because this is some of the most fantastic and fun television I have ever watched. But I totally understand how people unfamiliar with time travel, or sci-fi could be frustrated. Hell, even people who DO love sci-fi and time travel can get flustered in all of this mess, myself included. So, at the suggestion of Jugdish, I'm going to dish out some of my thoughts on time travel in the Lost world. I'm going to mostly focus on those darned old rules, because that seems to be the root of everyone's issues. Just remember, time travel isn't really possible (as far as we know) and therefore everything I say, and everything everyone else says on this site is purely their own understanding and conjecture. This of course amplifies our problem of understanding it, but we are truly at the mercy of the writers on this.

Jughead- Real Science of H BombsEvery week Popular Mechanics talks to experts after an episode airs to get insight and explore the science and the possibilities behind what we saw. This week, they're here to talk to us about H-bombs!

Last night's episode of Lost, "Jughead," had its fair share of "Holy cow, what did he just say!?" moments. Like when we learned that uber-rich (and uber-mysterious) businessman Charles Widmore was funding physicist Daniel Faraday's time travel research. Or that Widmore himself was once a Latin-speaking Other on the very island he's spent the last 20 years trying to find. And then there's that little fact that, oh my, there's a nuclear bomb on the island!

cover011409a.jpgI was originally going to title this article, "The Many Faces Of Marvin Candle..uh, I mean Mark Wickmund, crap, I mean Edgar Halliwax, or is it Pierre Chang. Oh hell, you get the idea" but that seemed like an awefully long title for such a short article. I think you all get the idea. Actor Francois Chau (that's his real life name!) has had the unique fortune of being the only character in the entire show 4 names (to date).

Thanks to a new video released this past summer at Comic con, it seems that we've finally discovered that our favorite Dharma scientists real name is Pierre Chang. I saw what's being called The Barracks video for the first time yesterday, and found it astounding. I'd heard about it last summer, of course, but in my lazy, Lost hiatus mood chose not to watch it at the time. But it got me wondering who else hadn't seen it yet. And for that matter, who else out there has forgotten about the other fantastic videos we've seen from this Dharma Scientist. So follow the jump and refresh yourself on the many faces of....oh hell, you know who I mean.

Oceanic-Air.com: Michael's DrawingsWhen "THE" is entered in the "From City" field, and "BOY" is entered in the "To City" field on the official ABC site, http://www.oceanic-air.com in 2005 (may no longer work), we see the pillar of smoke at the top of the page start moving. We then also see some of Michael's drawings (including the one shown on the show of him after the accident) and letters to Walt.

Oceanic-Air.com: Sayid's PassportWhen Shannon's seat (8F) was clicked on official ABC site, http://www.oceanic-air.com in 2005 (may no longer work), Sayid's passport is shown. It says he is Iraqi, but the type of passport is actually Iranian, which is likely a prop error.

Oceanic-Air.com: Kate's MugshotWhen Kate's seat (27H) was clicked on official ABC site, http://www.oceanic-air.com in 2005 (may no longer work), her mugshot came out. This is also shown in Season 1 Investigations, but this has a little bit more detail not shown on the show prop.

ABC Promotional Gallery: Deleted Mystery Girl from "A Tale of Two Cities"This was a promotional photograph on the official ABC media site, that was shown for "A Tale of Two Cities", in Season 3, before it aired. This scene was not not seen in the show itself, and it is unknown who this girl was or why this scene was once included/later excluded. The promotional gallery later deleted this photograph but kept the others up.

Thanks to rickytes, who was first to point this out.

Jigsaw Puzzle #3: Glow-in-the-Dark Secret Notations and MapThis picture illustrates what the back of the jigsaw puzzles look like. It is difficult to photograph clearly, but there is a glow-in-the-dark quarter version of the *full* blast door map on the back, including the parts that are unseeable in "Lockdown" because the door didn't come down all the way. All 4 puzzle backs are pieced together for the entire map. Also, the border has a set of codes that each start with 'c' and are followed by a small number, all linked together through all 4 puzzle backs. Because it is difficult to see, this is marked by a red line I added later.

Note: This screencap is by me, but I also uploaded this image to lostpedia (and it bears no watermark there). Please check entry "jigsaw puzzle" for more information on the glow in the dark 'c' codes, which are different on the other versions. To date, we have not been able to decode the meaning.

Season 2 DVD Bonus Features: Images from Phase 312 other images screencaptured from "Phase 3" of Disc 7. Note the many pictures relating to electromagnetism, one of psych testing, and the one in the lower right corner is of the UN Security Counsel building (mentioned in The Lost Experience Sri Lanka video relating to Valenzetti).

Season 2 DVD Bonus Features: Lost Connections: Mystery PersonIn Disc 7, Phase 3 Bonus Features, there is a large map of wires that connects tiny screens of various characters seen on Lost. Most are expected and known to those who watch the show carefully (and can be explored in this site's own "Lost Connections" section).

However, there is one "Mystery Person" introduced, who is but a shadow, waving at us. This person connects Jack, Christian Shephard and Claire. There's some speculation that this person may be Lindsey, the lady that Christian Shephard accosted at her home (asking to see his daughter) in "Two for the Road".

Special thanks to truffula of Lost-TV for the screencapture.

Oceanic-Air.com: Rousseau's MapWhen Shannon's seat (8F) was clicked on official ABC site, http://www.oceanic-air.com in 2005 (may no longer work), we saw some of Sayid's info, and a much clearer close-up of Danielle Rousseau's map from the show.

Season 2 DVD Bonus Features: Geronimo JacksonOn the Season 2 DVDs, there is an Easter egg that can be seen when you register the DVD and keep pressing the "Left" button until a black vinyl album pops out. If you then press "Enter", you'll see a close-up of the Geronimo Jackson album, "Magna Carta", which previously was difficult to view from the show. Pressing "5" will run a short clip of the show's producer's discussing the history of the mythical band.

Jigsaw Puzzle #2: The Others & SRMHI Connection? On official Lost jigsaw puzzle pattern #2 ("The Others"), there is one image on the left middle side that is strangely out of place. It is a picture of a sign from Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute, screencaptured from episode "Dave" (bottom). It says "Rec Room Rules: Listen and Respect Others". There is no information as to why this photograph is included in a puzzle which is otherwise entirely of the OTHERS, or if this is a possible connection between them and SRMHI. It is possible that this is a play on words with the sign saying "Respect Others", but would still be difficult to explain as a joke.

Thanks to chadley420 for the tip and p0pnfresh20 from Lostpedia for the puzzle photo.
