I'm sure that none of you will argue with me when I say that Lost has one of the largest and most diverse groups of fans out there today. And regardless of which Lost sites you visit regularly, or even if you visit them all equally, one fact remains clear, all of us, all of us who watch Lost and love this show form an interconnected community. Despite our differing opinions on almost everything, we are still a family, though obviously a very big family. This fact makes it even more painful to discover that another fan has been steeling from his fellow Lost bloggers, and not only gaining popularity from it, but actually profiting from it.
Seanie B is his name and he runs a lost video recapping website. He's even been featured on TVGuide's Lost videos before, spouting out his details about the show. At first look you may think, good for him. But on a closer look it becomes clear that his fame isn't deserved at all, you see, he's been stealing content from other Lost Bloggers. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and the video below, put together by Docarzt, clearly shows the theft, which is exactly what this is. You can read Doc's take on this here, and please check out the video below. If any of you are following this guy's site, or regularly watch his videos, I implore you to stop. IF you liked what he was saying, try reading Erika's blog, after all, it was her, uncredited, words or wisdom he was using in the video below. Regardless, do the Lost fandom a favor and lets cut this guy loose. We've got too many talented people writing about this show for a hack and a thief like this. What a dick! It's ok to take someone's exact words and tell it to your buddy sitting next to you, but to pass it off as your own as some type of psuedo-blog-journalist while profiting off it is not acceptable. Just like I can't create a blog (that generates $$ for me) and recite Stephen King novels pretending I'm some great sci-fi storyteller. I can, but I'll be sued.
The guy is a thief and a piece of garbage. Hope he fades back into obscurity.

What a jerk. It's one thing to share ideas and adopt someone else's theories, but to state them almost verbatim and claim them as his own is plagiarism and dishonest.
Personally, I think we all take a little of "our" theories from one another. What I don't like though is that he read almost word-for-word from the original writer's blogs. He could at least have given some credit to the original writer.
I found this very humorous. How is this not funny to everyone. The reason I feel this way is that it brings up a strikingly similar moral judgment that gets overlooked in Hollywood. If you have never seen the Movie "Swingers" rent it.
It has a scene where Vince Vaughn and the boys are discussing how all the greats steal from one another. Like how scenes are so similar in Tarantino's: "Resevior Dogs" and Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas".
Bottom line everyone steals from everybody.
Now if you've ever read a Lost Forum everyone wants to take credit for everything. New posters and old posters alike, want to claim law on what they've stated was going to happen weeks, months hell years ago. It's all hogwash to me. That's why I steer clear of the boards. I'm a seasoned Veteran who would rather joke with good INTERNET friends than go through explaining how Lost works. It's never going to please me. I've accepted that. I just want to see how it ends like a bad relationship ha!
This guy totally read word for word which is a shyster kinda move. I still crack up because even us fans have run out of original ideas for Lost. We can't figure it out so we just take others hard research and run with it. We have become our own worst enemies.
It's like checking in and out of Hurley's looney bin. For Lost we want to be there but really don't need to be. We're a little crazy but who isn't.

Need to be careful there. Blogging is very different that other media types. I am not justifing what he did, but plagerism is very different in this sort of medium, since when it comes to protection of ideas, how can you police that? Esp. something as "low minded" as Lost (not to be insulting, but we are not talking about engineering here, just a TV show) where anyone at anytime can spout off a theory. In a book or a medium with wide distribution, different laws apply.
I kinda hate reading DocArzt post because it is so emotional, it is hard to decipter facts, especially how egregious the case was. Was it all the time, or just these cases. To be honest, plagerism happens all the time, for instance, Martin Luther King plagerized on his doctoral thesis. It doesn't make him evil. Honestly, I have a tough time believing this is that big a deal.
Plagiarism is different from non-authorized file use. Doc didn't suggest that he is the author of the song. And I'm sure Jane's Addiction or Alice in Chains or whatever don't mind. It's just a fansite. Lawrence Lessig has a nice book about re-mixing songs with videos. Read it if you haven't already.

Honestly, people who get upset about theories and stuff like that being stolen does get kind of silly sometimes, and I don't disagree with you there BadRobot. But in this case the guy is taking something that Erika wrote, something she spends about 8 to 14 hours writing each week, and he reads it almost word for word on his own site, and yes, he does make money from it. So he's profiting off of Erika's time and skills.
Just ask Cayley, who writes the recaps for SW. She spends TONS of time on them, and when she's done it is something creative that has come directly from her. Stealing is stealing. Plain and simple. Copyright laws are very clear, and DOES include blogging.
And I bet if you were Erika, you would care quite a bit.

Holy crap, I've only just found out about this guy's videos yesterday. I thought it was pretty good....but I'm now appalled by his blatant plagiarism.
I mean, I'm okay if he was just getting the ideas and theories from reading other people's blogs & such....but he shouldn't be regurgitating it practically word for word. He should paraphrase it, say it in his own words.
I'm not a big fan of Copyright, but I don't think I'm being hypocritical here....as this guy is ripping off the "little guy" and he's actually passing it off as his own work. What he's stealing (almost word for word) is the major part of his work. This is different than taking a copyrighted song and putting it in your YouTube video...you're not posing as the song's creator, nobody's going to assume you made it, and the song is mearly an enhancer.
What a douche bag. Somebody should just download his video and put it on their channel and say they're him....that would be karma.

I find it funny that I made a post on his youtube page about plagiarism and it gets deleted within 30 seconds. when something is quoted word for word, someone is stealing from someone else. Just because it doesn't affect you personally doesn't mean that it's right.
Oh, and I SINCERELY hope this video makes it to TV Guide...and to the other viewers of his vlog. This is so messed up. If I were the one he was copying, I would be furious that he was taking credit for it. That is shameful.
BR-People DO get paid to Vlog for websites...many youtubers get paid...so...if this guy is stealing theories and ideas from other people and making money from it....that is not fair.
ok i am a huge LOST fan... i read all blogs and even partake in some blogging and theorizing... but all of this hoopla about someone stealing blogs... and how some people are wineing about it..... get over it..... if the info gets out there who the f*** cares how it gets out.... nobody gets paid to blog.... just enjoy the damned show....
