Odd that Ben would miss. He's usually a pretty good shot.
Oh, is it a race, lostfromthestart? Is it? Okay, totally joking. And not that it matters, but I don't think that's a body double. I mean, it's not like they really shot a gun at the actor. And all he has to do is throw the bag and "fall" backward. I think it's just a weird angle. But I've been wrong before.
I already called the stunt double and the glancing blow to the groceries.
Desmond looks like a body double - stunt double?
Or maybe the images are just a bit blurred.
Any comments?
From the 2 pictures shown above, it doesn't look like the bullet hit Desmond at all... It looks like it when through the grocery sack and right under his armpit. If it did hit him, it probably only grazed him... so my question is why it took so long for him to get up and beat the snot out of Ben?
Sledgeweb,
Can you post a pic for me? I don't know how to do competent screen caps.
In the Dharmaville scene, right after the flashback where Ben brings Alex to confront Charles, there is a weird shadow on the wall of one of the buildings.
I am always weary of making shapes out of clouds, but it looks like the head of the man/dog God (Anubis?) from later in the episode. It is right over the window. To the left, is a fallen sign that says "processing center".
I think the shadow is an attempt by the producers to mess with us. I cannot see that being an accidental shadow. I don't think the dog/man was there, but it could be a hint to focus on that element of the mythology. Especially given Ilyana's line at the end of the episode.
Am I alone in my madness?
I wonder if Smokey's toilet is a kind of "well of souls"
There's this book "Mythical origin of the Egyptian Temple" I saw referenced; It mentions sacred texts found on the walls of the Graeco-Egyptian temple at Edfu in Southern Egypt,
They " speak of a subterranean domain, called the Underworld of the Soul, accessed via a well-shaft, which once existed in the vicinity of Giza. Mythical beings, known as the Primeval Ones, led by an individual called the Falcon conducted entered this chthonic realm to embrace its divine radiance known variously as the Embryo, Seed , Lotus, or Sound Eye."
"How did Desmond not die when Ben shot him? "
Des was able to sock Ben pretty hard with his right arm, so I'm guessing the bullet was a mere graze or miss. The milk, was not so lucky.
I suppose Des could have some sort of mortal wound and die after saving Penny, but it wouldn't make sense.
It would be cool if the bullet had bounced off Des' penny "constant", but in the pics it looks like Des got knocked down by accelerating exploding milk.
lostfromthestart, "Marina stores are expensive". Good one! Good thing Ben didn't shoot up Our Mutual Friend, because Marina mechanics are even more over-priced.
I guess the name stuck, huh.
Looks like Ben just got a glacing blow to Des' groceries. Or his stunt double's groceries. But it did really piss him off. Now he has to go shopping again. And the Marina area stores are expensive.
Suddenly John looks down, "Oh, crap! It's 4:30 already! We'd better hurry!"
Isn't he just about standing over the spot where the lose arm (with nice watch) was left by the Frenchies?
How did Desmond not die when Ben shot him? Are we going to discover he was carrying something that stopped the bullet and saved his life? He took something from Widmore at one point...could that be it???
