What's Hot: 5x11: Alpert Warned to talk to Ellie and Charles
Hurley and Miles started a new, special kind of friendship tonight that I hope we see more of in the future. Of course, it does make me worry for MIles a little. Afterall, people who come in contact with Hurley don't always fare so well. But in Whatever Happened, Happened there was some fantastic dialog between the two on the specifics of time travel. Hurley definitely represents many of the feelings the fans have had this season. Follow the jump for a clip of their time travel discussion from tonight.

Daniel is with Pierre Chang aka Marvin Candle, Mark Wickmund and Edgar Halliwax. We know this from last year's Comic Con video (link below). Daniel is not on camera but you can clearly hear him in the background. Since that was released the pieces have come together. Daniel is trying to broadcast to 2005 from the 1970's. He has told Chang that George Bush is president. Chang repeats this so anyone watching in 2005 would ask how he could know that unless someone (Daniel) has traveled back in time and told him. Chang is also dejected because there is no way to stop the purge and he knows he is about to die (since whatever happened happens). This scene will probably turn up in the finale (not the goffy part with the fat guy, just the part from the show). Does that help?

where the hell is Daniel?
second best hurley conversation--'loop, dude, loop' is still my fave! but this was my aha moment. as soon as miles said that this is ben's past but our present, i finally was able to grasp what's happening to the losties.
great job of explaining it to all of us hurlies!
That's another part of lost... we never get the whole picture.
As far as we know he did know Sayid but played it to his advantage as always and didn't mention it at all.
Heck as far as we know none of the losties ever tell another person on what has happened. :P
KiddyB - I believe Richard said he won't remember "this" meaning the shooting. I didn't get the impression he was erasing his whole memory. Plus, if you'll recall the scenes from the Purge, that doesn't happen for a good 20 years (judging by the fact that Ben is about 35 when that happens). That's plenty of time for Ben to re-establish himself with the DI. I think he would still call them his people.
Two notes:
First, Hurley and Miels do not know that Ben might "change" in the healing process, so Miles can't answer Hurley's final question.
Second: remember when Ben showed Locke the Dharma grave? He said these were his people, so I thing he DOES remember even when Richard "changed" him. And according to Ben's character, it might be possible that he remembered Sayed, but didn't say so... Would, for me, kind of fit into Lost though...
I don't think Locke has been to the temple. He still has so much innocence in him. But I was thiking: Danielle killed her husband and crew because they went into the temple and came back different. I wonder if Charles had to go into the temple to become an "Other" and leader.
Agree with lostjava...the Hurley/Miles conversations were the best part of the episode! We need more Hurley/Miles!
These scenes were the best part of the episode. Brilliant!
I'm not sure what is funnier... that scene or the fact that My wife and I were having the same discussion about 3 minutes prior. I was Miles, she was Hurley.
At the end she went.. See how do you explain that.
Good thing the part at the end happened and I went "Ah-Ha"
lol
Honestly I like these parts but if I have to try explaining time-travel and past selves vs present vs where they are in the time line one more time to my wife I'm going to go nuts. :)
These were two really great scenes to watch! It covered the two styles of time travel (Fate & No Fate) and it mirrored all the confusion the fans have already gone through trying to make sense of all the time traveling in this season. =)
Like LOCKE..what if Locke got dragged down in the "temple" but we really never saw that part..You know when he stares it down, maybe thats when it happened..MAKE SENSE???
Ben doesn't remember Sayid shooting him as a child because whatever Richard does to heal Ben, makes him different. He becomes someone else entirely. Someone who does anything to protect the island.
I know. It was so great. The same conversation so many fans are having. Explained so well.
I just watched it two more times. I finally understand what is going on.
Loved how Hurley stumps him at the end.
I was so glad that we actually got a real conversation between these people about what is going on. It was an awesome scene and it was explained the way I hope it would be.
Now if Astro is right, it will be blown out of the water at the season finale.
