Despite what I thought was a great opener, SWLS users turned in average ratings for the return of Flight 316 and Frank's ace landing on the beach runway (previously worked on by Kate and Sawyer). From there, things went south.

The second segment was the lowest rated second segment of the season. The reunion of Jack, Kate and Hurley with Sawyer and Jin just wasn't enough to get viewers excited. Apparently, neither was the (disappointing) introduction of the long awaited "suicidal" future spot-on-the-ceiling Radzinsky (bothered by a none too cool Jin).

Segment three saw the return of Sayid, the arrival of Jack, Kate and Hurley to Dharmaville, and Ben getting another beat down - this time by Sun. It also saw even lower returns than the second segment.

Things bottomed out in the fourth segment, in which we saw the induction of Jack, Kate and Hurley into the Dharma Initiative. There was also some more tension between Radzinsky, Sayid and Jin. And of course, at the very end of the segment, the return of Christian.

That return of Christian signaled a sharp change in the segment ratings. One that would see ratings swing from almost the lowest of the season, to the very highest in two short segments. The fifth segment gave us that creepy revelation by Christian to Sun and Frank that Jin was with his friends in 1977. We also saw a great scene between Sawyer and Jack, in which Sawyer puts Jack in his place, and makes sure he knows who is in charge. The creepy end, which saw a young Ben introducing himself to a captured Sayid (whom he believed to be a Hostile), saw a perfect 5.0 segment rating.
