The Sphinx in Giza actually has four toes;)...
Nurse: Kelly.
Anyone think that might be a MASH reference?
Nurse Kelly is the longest running nurse on MASH besides Hotlips.
I choose to think its an homage to one of the best shows ever :)
In literature, water often symbolizes change,
Locke told Sayid that he was staying at the Westerfield Hotel in LA, CA, under the name Jeremy Bentham at the end of their conversation.
Locke in the water is similar to Christian (Jack's Dad) in the water. Christian was supposedly dead at the time too.
Locke is the anti-Ben. Yeah baby!!
What a beautiful shot of Locke at the beach...
No wonder he wanted to return to the island.
We were much amused by Locke's persuasion technique: “We’ve got to go back!”
No wonder no one wanted to return to the island.
Seriously, Locke is the anti-Ben. Did Locke’s failure to persuade or, as Ben prefers, manipulate his fellow Losties put the fate of the island into Ben’s hands? Note that Locke didn’t die until he gave Ben two key pieces of information – Eloise Hawking can help them get back and Jin was alive. Perhaps the Island wouldn’t allow Locke to die until he succeeded or passed the hat to someone who could succeed.
Nythologically, the sphinx was known for her riddles - and for keeping secrets. What an approriate image for LOST!!!The sp[hinx asked the following riddel: What walks on four legs at dawn, on two legs during the day, and on three legs at dusk?
The answer is man, who first crawls, then walks erect, then uses a cane to walk.
Also, the logo and sentiment on Sayid's shirt are both very DHARMA-ish.
As far as the Sphinx picture... If LOST really is headed towards some sort of Atlantis/Mu myth, the Atlanteans are rumored to have helped the Egyptians build the pyramids and the Sphinx, with their superior technology. It's a crazy theory, but interesting.
I was wondering the same thing BostonTom!!! When Walt met with Hurley in the Psych Ward they used the name Jeremy Bentham, but in Walt's short visit with John in last nights episode, he only calls him John. So how does Walt even know who Jeremy Bentham is???
Hurley's painting pictures of the Sphinx which isn't far from Tunisia. Did he know Locke was coming? Also, the Sphinx was the guardian of a temple. There's a temple on the island... I don't know if any of this means anything. Just brainstorming.
Maybe I missed something, but did Locke introduce himself as "Jeremy Bentham" to Walt, Sayid or Hurley? I know in the future the mere mention of the name really irritates the Oceanic Six, but they call called him John Locke in their brief meetings. Maybe Ben uses the name after getting rid of Locke?
ya they crashed on the hydra... also notice that Helen died on april 8 2006.... 4/8/2006 (2006=2+0+0+6=8) 4/8/8 ... oh and how when she died she was 48... yet another 4 and 8. ya i cant walk down the street withought trying to make every number i see and hear into a lost numbers connection...
I missed the beginning again! so they crashed on the Hydra island right?
I hate Ben a little more in each episode.
