Maybe they used the Medusa Spider just to paralize Locke
I actually think "doubting Thomas" looks like Faraday.
First time long time here.. Did anyone pick up on the guitar Hurley was carrying? A link to our favor one hit wonder pop star charlie??
what about the two different shirts and two different ties that locke is wearing in the coffin?
Locke can't be dead because he is Jacob. That's always been my line of thinking anyway. I'm sure we'll find out this week, anyone else seen the trailers?
Now we have finially got to watch the episode in the UK I can now comment.
Just want to point out a few things I noticed: Thomas the apostle was also called 'Doubting Thomas', was this because Jack was a bit of a doubting Thomas regarding Locke and not believing in him?
I also noticed the blonde girl in the bar behind Jack, they showed her twice so she must be some sort of clue, I thought Claire at first but perhaps Jack's wife?
The Asian guy 'Caeser', first thought to me was a terriost?
When Jack and Ben were talking before the plane started jumping the bloody scar on Ben's head looked like a 'H' to me, some sort of clue there??
And finially (I know I'm going on a bit), but the plane didn't crash it just time jumped and everyone who had been on the island before jumped with it? So Frank, Ben, Sun, Sayid and possibly Asian guy will turn up somewhere on the island.?? Just thoughts, don't shoot!
just a thought.
John Locke 'died' on the original flight so even though he is back in the 'real world' due to the Donkey Wheel thing, he cant be John Locke anymore hence the invention of Bentham. Therefore he could hardly book a flight back to the island under the name John Locke. Maybe he isnt dead, I know this is a stretch but maybe he has been given some drugs to slow the heartbeat down and put him into suspended animation (just thought of the episode of Firefly when they break into the hospital) and to help with the process he was kept in a freezer to make his skin cold to the touch for officials, slow it down more etc etc.
...or kinda like Roger Linus?
hey in the painting.... dlesnt jesus kinda look like Jack?
When Jack was having a drink in the bar before boarding the plane, there was a blond woman a couple of seats away with her back to him. An illusion to Clare perhaps?
And who was the woman with a badge with Sayid? An illusion to Ana Lucia?
whatva
Actually, hair and nails do NOT grow after death. The body loses moisture and the skin recedes on the frame giving the illusion of hair and nails growing when in actuality the skin is shrinking. Scientifically, that IS what happens.
scientifically hair and nails DO grown after death... so lockes head hair should be growing too... cuz i do remember him shaving his head once with his own knives... or am i wrong?
Yeah, now that I think about it, you guys are right about how hair appears to continue to grow after death. Good call!
oh and i didnt mean the cross pendant that Yemmi gave him .. i meant the crucifix on the church wall...
How about a screen shot of customs right after JAck gets his Ticket at Ajira... it shows everyone getting on the plane... maybe we can see who would be who.. maybe it shows a regnant lady....?
Would love to see pics of the Virgin Mary and Eko's Cross!!! Totally missed those!!!
I did see the Virgin Mary, but not Eko's cross. Good catch!
I think the "growing hair" IS actually from the skin drying out and receding, rather than that the hair grows. (After my husband got home from work last night at 1:00 in the morning, that's what he told me, and he used to work in a funeral home, for what that's worth...)
Also, I like that better because it makes it more likely that Locke is still alive, because he hasn't been dead long enough for the skin-receding thing to have taken place yet, I don't think. (Again, according to hubby's opinion...)
Good catch on the Eko's cross and the Virgin Mary statue... I didn't see those.
NorthShore, I'm with you on the guy being a Widmore plant...
*Virgin Mary
Has anyone noticed that Eko's cross is outside HAwkin's office. AND that there is a virgin NAry heroin statue on her desk..
MAY I REQUEST USER PICTURES OF HER OFFICE?????
the growing hair on locke is feasible even if he is dead..... corpses have been known to have hair and nails grow even after death.... actually it does not grow so much as the tissues surrounding recede with the natural dehydration of the body
I like the idea that Ben may have killed Penny! I think that is totally a feasible idea, and it is a plenty good reason to get Des back on the island again.
Do we really think the writers/producers could have screwed up so bad as to give Locke new clothes and tell him not to shave? I don't thinks so! He is either still alive or he will be when he returns to the island. They keep saying the island needs him, so i dont think the island would ask John to kill himself and then not bring him back to life...
Notice the scribbles on the payphone? They probably didn't want to have another "DIE HARD 2" goof-up where you can see the phone is actually in Australia, not L.A.
Re: the five o'cLOCKE (nice pun!) shadow-
If I recall correctly its not that the hair keeps growing after death, its that the skin dries and recedes, which makes it appear as though hair (and nails) are still growing. But I could be wrong, as I'm nothing close to a doctor...
Locke's lengthening facial hair might mean something. I learned firsthand, however, in my grad school anatomy program that body hair on a dead person continues to emerge for a fair amount of time after death. Never got the exact explanation as to why, but I've been told as much and observed it for myself on cadavers. Hope that's not too creepy for anyone.
And by the way, anyone with me in thinking that the new Arab character on the show tonight is a Widmore guy? That's the first thing that came to mind when he spoke to Jack in line at the airport. I guess we'll see.
I noticed the film crew's reflection in Jack's eyeball, too. Kinda took a little bit of magic out of the moment.
ben beaten and broken yet another scene we will come back to later.. yes i do think it has to dowith killing or trying to kill penny
Thanks sledgeweb! I appreciate the invite and now that I see the discussion over there, I do feel kind of silly. I actually thought I'd figured out something before anybody else -- I should have known better than to think that about you guys! I love your site here though - I've been a devoted follower since your beginnings. You've always been at the very top of my LOST sites.
JoAnn, I think a lot of people agree with you on this. Please join the discussion in the forum on this topic!
Is that a reflection of the camera and cameraman in Jack's eye? Too funny!
The five-o-clock shadow I noticed right away in the show, but I didn't catch that the tie and shirt appear to be different. Hmmmm. Actually, the pillow in the coffin looks different, too, now that I look at it.
First post ... so please be kind.
I finally had to register, just so I could tell someone who cares (my husband totally doesn't!) what I figured out. I think I know what the "loose ends" and "promise to an old friend" that Ben told Jack about at the church were and why it left him all beaten & bloody.
I think he killed Penny!
Remember how he promised Widmore he would kill Widmore's daughter in revenge for Widmore being behind Alex's death? He even made the pay phone call to Jack at the marina! And wouldn't that be the absolute ONLY thing that would drive Desmond to go back to the island - to hunt down Ben! I hate to think of Penny as dead but it's the perfect plan to get Desmond back to the island and it fulfills Ben's vow to Widmore!
Any thoughts?
Yeah, I noticed the fuzzy chin on Locke. Hmmm.....hair's growing. He's not dead.... And of course the previews lean in that direction too.
Just pointing out the obvious, but Mr. Bentham appears to be wearing a different shirt, different tie, and a five o'cLOCKE shadow. He's alive?
Check the front page Eric, it is up.
could we get a screen grab of the book Ben was reading on the plane? thanx :)
Oh no! We can't see Jin's Dharma logo! Well, not all of it anyways. But it looks like it could be a star. Can someone cross-reference it with the other logos we know?
