Fans really ate up the return of Smokey and Christian Shepard in this week's showing. SWLSer, JasOn gave the episode a 10: "This episode was action packed! I think TPTB made up for last weeks episode with this one, its definetly a classic. From smokey's temple to locke turning the wheel, i loved it all! GREAT EPISODE, ive already re-watched, and will do so again when i get time. WOW."
On the other end of the spectrum, ฿ąмЪî rated the episode a 7, explaining: "I didn't feel the fast pace-I felt quite the opposite. My husband and I both said "Why are they dragging this out so much?". It wasn't boring. Okay what did we learn? John was supposed to turn the wheel-not Ben the liar. Charlotte lived on the island, but we all pretty much guessed this one. Ben is really mad at the fact that Des showed up knowing Ellie is Dan's mom(biggest moment IMO). Smokey attacked Danielle's team. I just don't feel like the show is moving along at a good pace yet. I hope the flashes are done. I hope they get the 06 on their way to the island soon. I can't wait to see Locke off the island!!! I don't think it was a bad episode, but I think that the first two episodes were so good that these ones leading up to everything is failing in comparison. I will give it a....7."
In between, were ratings of 8 and 9. Time-Jumper decided the following, "8 - Very good episode. I was a little disappointed in Danielle's story. I just expected it to play out differently. I don't know why. It left me a little confused. I loved that fact that Ben was surprised to hear that Mrs. Hawking was Faraday's mother. This, of course, leads me to believe the Mrs. Hawking and Widmore are in cahoots. Now Widmore's willingness to send Desmond to her makes more sense. I knew Charlotte had to die eventually. And someone had to die this episode. So that made sense. I never expected her to be the one to say, "This Place is Death," however. Lastly, Locke keep his promise to Jin... sort of... He promised the HE would not bring Sun back or tell her that Jin was alive. He never promised that he wouldn't tell anyone else that Jin was alive. Technically honest, but really not honest for the intent of the promise."
Although this was perhaps more of a slower episode than others, it seems pretty much everyone enjoyed it. This show, more than others, I think really answered and confirmed some questions that we have been waiting some time for. I really feel like things are starting to come together with this episode, and heading towards a very focused end. This will, hopefully, be good news for LOST fans. We can only hope "316" starts off with the excitement built up in "This Place is Death". Is it possible we will see an even higher average rating in the next installment? Stay tuned to find out!
