"There's No Place Like Home, Part 1 Poll Review"

part 1.jpg

I figured that if Lost was going to take a break, so would I. Now Lost is back and so is the poll review. "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1" received strong reviews earning an 8.38 rating. I was surprised that this episode earned such a high mark since it did not have very much action and was more of a set up for the two hour finale. The SWLS users gave it strong marks with only one low score and 53.2% scoring it a 9 or 10. Even PointPlace gave it an extremely rare 10! Surprised by PointPlace's generosity, some members are demanding he provide a urine sample. Since most agreed with him, he was spared "the cup", for now.

Alwayslost really liked this episode "for no other reason than being the Lost I fell in love with. That last scene was perfect LOST...left us all hanging for two damn weeks until our two hour finale". Suzanne4au2 agrees noting "the best part for me was at the very end where it shows everything that is going on is slow motion." Asmodean concurs focusing on the "multiple units filming in different locations on the island gives us a broad spectrum of all the action going on". That last scene really got people excited for this week's finale. It was beautifully filmed and produced. It gave a strong sense of finality and danger. Alwayslost was correct, it was a perfect last scene.

The Oceanic 6 arrival in Hawaii and the press conference was another big moment for SWLS, but the most emotionally quoted scene was Jack finding out that Claire is his half sister. Even though we knew that Jack and Claire were both Christian's children, the scene was beautifully delivered. The viewers could feel the tension rise and knew that this would blow Jack away. It appears that this is the beginning of Jack's downfall. We have seen him starting to drink in the morning in "Eggtown" and taking medication in "Something Good Back Home". During the season 3 finale's flash forward we see a completely destroyed Jack popping pills and drinking heavily determined to get BAAACCCKK! Now we have seen the catalyst for this destruction. TheGoodPeople agreed calling it "one of my favorite scenes of the entire series" and predicts "this is going to be Jack's breaking point". LostandSeek agrees, "the scene with Jack and Claire's mom was beautifully done". LostinLocke called the scene "very moving". Matthew Fox has many detractors around here, but he deserves credit for pulling off this scene. One question, is anyone surprised that Claire's mom was alive? Was this the island at work so she could deliver the message?

I thought that Part 1 was well done, but it did lack action. It was a very good set up for Thursday's two-hour finale. The flash forwards did not ruin the scene showing Jack finding out about Claire. I thought the flash forwards did lessen the impact of the Oceanic 6 arriving home. Knowing that they were going to be saved removed any suspense and made the arrival anticlimactic I wish they would of saved that story line for when we find out the complete story of their rescue. This would of given a more emotional impact.(Watch the replay this week, they are promising a longer press conference.) This is a small complaint. Part 1 set us up for a highly anticipated finale that promises plenty of action, answers and emotion. I leave you with our favorite writer Laklost. "Since this is the first third of the longest chapter of the book that is season 4, this means we are in for a 5 G-force last two thirds. Strap in, it's a wild ride!!"

Yeah, I have been trolling this site forever, but I do have to say thins was a great set up for the 2 hour finale. Honestly, Since we have been introduced to The Others, they have been intreguing and still mysterious. So, naturally, everytime they were featured and we learned more, I enjoyed that particular episode. I dunno about he rest of you, but seeing Richard roll in withe the rest of The Others at the end of the ep had me rooting for them as I know they will be regulating shit when they have to deal with the freighter people.
