What's Hot: 4x10: Newspaper and Date
Jack's picks up this paper near the beginning of episode 4x10, "Something Nice Back Home". The paper announces the Yankees sweep of the Boston Red Sox, which places this flash forward at the end of August, 2007 (see comments below). The article is written by Gregg Bilson... this seems to be a fake article, and Gregg Bilson is the founder of Independent Studio Services, a company that produces props for the film and television industry - so perhaps a reference to that Gregg Bilson? Also, of interests, there is an email address in a blank space below the article. It looks like marvin.mancia@studiographics.us ... interesting, when you type in studiographics.us in your browser, you go to the ISS site affiliated with Gregg Bilson. Looks like some inside promotion (Bilson has also appeared as a brand of cigarettes in LOST). I don't see a Marvin Mancia listed on their site, but they do use the name MANCIA in some product samples, viewed here. Larger view after the jump.

There are some errors in this article. The opening paragraph says the Yankees "rampaged into Fenway Park and won three games to bury the Boston Red Sox [in August 2006]." Actually, that series was 5 games, not 3. Also, the score right below the article was for the Angels vs. the Astros. The Angels are an American League team and the Astros are a National League team, meaning they would rarely play each other. They did, in fact, play each other in 2007, but the 3 game series was from June 18th - June 20th, not at the end of August.

It's also just a TV show, so, you got that.

Bob, thanks for putting Hurley's trip to Seoul before SMRHI. I had been thinking he got out and went.
We know part of Sayid's events happen in 2005. But, the earlier episode we're not exactly sure when that takes place.
Actually, my bad, I guess it's more like this...
1) Hurley Visits Sun and her baby in Korea.
2) Jack Visits Hurley in Santa Rosa after the car chase.
3) Kate goes on Trial.
4) Jack and Kate hook up.
5) Jack grows unstable and wants to return to the island.
Right?? The only thing we don't know yet is when in all of this Sayid's things happen.
sledge- sweet, thanks!
So this makes the sequence of events for the flash forwards so far...
1) Jack Visits Hurley in Santa Rosa after the car chase.
2)Kate goes on Trial.
3)Jack and Kate hook up.
4)Jack grows unstable and wants to return to the island.

Deletia... I bet the newspaper was created by ISS on heroes and LOST, and so they put their "stamp" on it. Mancia seems to be a name ISS uses over and over, looks like this mystery is solved.
"Marvin Mancia" may be a nod to Heroes. There is a Marvin Mancia who works--fictionally, I think--as a writer for the Miami Bugle in the Heroes universe. I don't follow Heroes, so I really don't know, but he has a by-line in a fictional article featured at the Heroes wiki:
http://heroeswiki.com/Image:Miami_bugle_lo.jpg
actual article - nytimes tyler kepner
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/31/sports/baseball/31yankees.html?ref=baseball
real game was on 8/30/07
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/scores107/107242/MLB733463.htm
so the paper date would be 8/31 2007
Boston's sizable lead is probably from last year. I don't think they had a big lead in 2006.
