"The Shape of Things To Come" Poll results.

Season 4 part 2, started off with a bang, both literally and figuratively. 4x09 "The Shape Of Things To Come" got the viewers right back into the action, gave us some answers and many more questions. Lost came out of the gates with both guns blasting and a freiight train named Smokie. The SWLS users really liked this episode. An 8.4 overall rating shows a strong positive reaction to this episode. 84% of the voters gave it an 8 or higher. A user did give it a 1, but did not post a reason for that low score. Otherwise it was 6 or higher. SWLS members are very hard graders and compare Lost against it self not other shows. Many have stated that they are holding onto a 10 for the best episode ever. So an 8.4 average is a strong rating.

We did get many interesting comments form our members. E.S.B. liked that this episode made "Ben an even more interesting character' and that we got to see "a little bit of soul when he mourned for Alex". Suzanne4au2 and Asmodean both loved the episode and gave it a 10 rating. They also promoted watching the show "spoiler free" .(Spoiler free is the only way to get true enjoyment out of Lost, IMHO) Laklost promoted the overall production and the acting of Michael Emmerson. No other television show is as beautifully filmed.

Overall our members liked the action, Smokie, the flash forward and the Ben/Widmore showdown. The few complaints of "Shape" centered on teleportation and the survival skills of Sawyer and Claire. JBRam gave it a 9, but is not happy about teleportation being in play. (I am in agreement with JBRam) Ben's appearance in the desert has produced many theories, most of them surrounding the Orchid Video and teleportation. The possibility of teleportation has also strengthened the pro time travel movement. I hope future episodes clarify these issues.

LostAndSeek stated that the "mercs take out three redshirts in three shots, but can't hit Sawyer in a hundred tries" as one of a few plot holes that lowered the rating to an 8. Others found Claire surviving the rocket attack as a bit over the top. The "island will not let you die" statement given by Tom to Michael in "Meet Kevin Johnson" could explain both of these situations. The island may not need the redshirts, but still might need Claire and Sawyer.

The complaints were few and minor. The second half of season 4 started off in peak form. The rest of the season promises to be a wild ride with many surprises, some answers and many many questions.,

I would say that it was hinted at by the orchid an polar bear, now it was brought home.

Heard that they said Claire was thought to be in the house, so she could of been out back when the rocket went off.

Teleportation was already established with the polar bear with the Darmha tag in the desert in the 3rd episode of the second.

According to Ben, they missed Sawyer on purpose so that he'd run in the house and bring Ben to them.

I agree that Claire surviving the rocket attack was amazing, and that the only explanation for it would be island protection.

Thanks for this, Juggy! I loved seeing what our readers said and not just what the numbers said.
