What's Hot: 4x08: Who Shot Rousseau?
We've got a lot of time to speculate this. Who was it that killed Carl, and shot Rousseau - and is she dead? Of course, the old "Who Shot..." cliffhanger has been done before, on Dallas it was "Who Shot JR?", and on the Simpsons, "Who Shot Mr. Burns?". Assuming it wasn't Kristin Shepard or Maggie Simpson, who do you think fired the shots? Did Ben send someone to snipe Danielle and Carl? Or is it someone from the boat? Remember, Lawnmower Man did take the copter out again, so perhaps the commandos are now on the island.
It appears Rousseau was shot in the back. Yet, we can clearly see a wound in her chest, but the shot of her back shows no wound. Is she a goner? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. Also, is anyone really disappointed to see Carl bite the dust? Who'd you like to see as the trigger man? I'm hoping for a one armed, no legged, double eye-patched Patchy on top of a Polar Bear.

If the shooter was from the Widmore boat, then you can only assume from what we have seen so far, the shooter would be from a military background.
If so, how many shots did he/she fire to get 2 direct hits? Seems to me like it was an amatuer shooter.
If this is like JR/Mr. Burns, then Rousseau isn't dead. Neither JR nor Mr. Burns ended up dying. Maybe that's the cliffhanger again.
I wish it were Kelvin because then that would be settled once and for all. I guess the question is if the island was ready for Kelvin to die. ...maybe so, since he was hiding a boat named Elizabeth.
Sorry about the Kelvin tangent again.
Anyway, my real bet is that it's someone from the freighter.
Yeah, perhaps the Desmond sickness was the sickness Rousseau's crew fell victim to. Remember, there's those injections of "vaccine" that Charlie gave to Claire, and the quarantine signs on the hatch doors.. maybe it's all related.
There is just no way the shooter - and I believe it's one - was from Not-Penny's-Boat.
Ben has never lied outright as far as I remember.
The shooters were the idiots from the boat. Ben knew they were on island. Ben uses them to take out two of his problems. He also wants the boaties to think that having his daughter is a trump card. It buys him credibility in potential negotiations. "He's telling the truth, he's behaving in good faith, because he wants his daughter back." Without that, they have no reason to ever listen to him.
I don't believe that Rousseau is dead. Carl appears to have moved on to the Big Island in the sky.
Speaking of the sickness of Rousseau's people...I think they simply came in on the wrong course and went the way of Minkowski. Perhaps Rousseau was immune because she was pregnant.
I'm with BobBx. We're not done with Michelle. I don't think she's going to die but she's def. not going to the Temple. This is Ben's doing and Alex is safe. Ben still doesn't want Alex getting pregnant but he also said the Temple is for our people. Darn the Ben. Just when I was sarting to like him.
So, was it a huge mistake on the producers' part that it looked like she was shot in the back, but there was no entry wound there?? I think she's dead/dying, but we will get her flashback story when we return. I think she'll tell Alex as a dying proclomation or something, right before Alex gets kidnapped by Keamy and Frank. I don't think that Frank will be happy about kidnapping her, but he will help.
I don't know... I think the animated version shows a fleeing Komodo dragon. Perhaps Dharma was training and weaponizing Komodos before the Purge (before they acheived pinpoint accuracy). That would explain the lousy first two shots and questionable palcement of the successful ones. Ben can communicate telepathically with the creatures and when he saw the amorousness between his "daughter" and Crazy Carl, he put the hit out on Carl before Alex got preggers. Danielle could have been on the hit list or another example of bad shooting.
Since the previews said someone was going to die, does that mean either Carl or Danielle might make it?
Sorry I posted this over in "Here's the Shooter" section also since it applies to both.
... and Rousseau killed her team, including the the father of her baby (supposedly), to keep the "sickness" from spreading off island.
Rousseau was already pregnent when the research vessel she was on with her husband found the island. That's why she - like Claire - didn't die during her pregnancy.
The others stole Alex when she was a baby, and apparently Ben raised her as his daughter.
Rousseau is not dead. SHe has survived this long, she will survive longer.
Now Karl...he looked like he was toast. Frankly, I'm not too torn up. Alex needs a better boyfriend. Maybe in a couple years when she's legal she and Sawyer can hook up.
Yeah, Ben seemed too specific with saying that only those 3 should go to the temple, and not the losties. Sounds like he was setting them up.
It would be really cheap if the writer's hyped up "someone will die..." and it turns out to be just Carl. I hope Rousseau is dead or I will feel cheated by last week's previews.
I realized though that Rousseau didn't have a flashback episode of her own in 3.5 seasons. I was really hoping for an episode that explained why she came to the island (I know she followed the transmission, but what was her crew's original mission), where her boat is, what is the "sickness" that she always mentions, and how did the stealing of Alex go down? Too many questions to just kill her.
Rousseau is an island weirdo, maybe the belt is on 'backwards' because she knows no better, it is a broken belt, or she is using it for a removable pouch holder thingy. (I use to wear my tool belt with the clasp in the back.)
I hope she is not dead, she asks questions and also has answers we need.
Why is her belt on backwards (opens on her back)?
And someone remind me, she and Benji did the nasty and had Alex, is that right?
I really hope Rousseau isn't dead. I didn't realise how much I appreciated her character until she was shot. She has answers to some questions that I have!!
Remember Patch... He keeps coming back from the dead. Everytime we think he is dead, he shows up again. I hope Rousseau is not dead.
I know it has been said but WHY does Locke continue to trust Ben only to get burned time and time again. But I have to admit I Love Ben's character! Does he ever tell the truth?!
