Astro I would agree but we don't know the full meaning of why they are there yet? If it was Micheal, that is on the ship, he might of drew the map. He also may of used it as a way for them to know a safe place to get away from Ben by putting a C for the camp site of the survivors And H as a landing spot for the helicopter. - My other question though is if C really did stand for the camp site. Why did they never find the Tempest? It appears on the map a lot closer to the C than they had to travel to get to the tempest... Okay back to Pondering some more...

I agree Ed, except I still say C= Crater. H could be a spot to land the helicopter. But I don't think they knew where the Camp was. It just doesn't make sense to me that they'd mark that. The map's soul purpose was to get them to the Tempest.

C = Camp
H = Helicopter

Widmore was financially invested with Hanso, true? Okay, so he has some idea about DHARMA and locations on the island.

Why not other stations listed? Not needed for this "mission." The map is directions to the Tempest.

OOOOOO Idea! Could The C on the map indicate like a couple of people have said the Camp site of the surviors and H equal a place to land the Helicopter? Wasn't that an open clearing... ? I can't remeber... And could the map be drawn by the person that ben has on the ship that at least locke knows? I don't know just a few ideas to throw around...

I read this and thought I'd share it will you all.

Could the freighter belong to Charles Widmore? Daniel Faraday and co work for Charles Widmore and used this map to find the Tempest. You may have wondered where he got that map from. Well, we saw Charles Widmore purchase the Black Rock journal at auction, and since it crashed on the island, it would make sense that the captain, Magnus Hanso, would draw maps of the island in his journal, and that is what Charles Widmore used to track down the island.

Sorta makes sense, no?

Sledge also made a comment to me last night that is interesting, but doesn't tell us much. The blast door map had the word "UNKNOWN" written 3 times at the center (where the pearl was). This hand drawn map also has the words UNKNOWN written 3 times on it.

Yes, it says 8 degrees N (I think) and 33 degrees E. Of the text under those numbers here is what I can make out.

Some other notes, the H isn't in the water, its just off to the side over a profile drawing of some mountains. I also think that the C may be a label for the "Crater" that was marked on one of Danielle's maps, which is in fact where the beach camp was located. Basically, I think the C is on there to show where the crater is, since it would be a landmark they'd recognize. So I guess I'm saying that it is marking the beach camp, but I don't think they marked that as the beach camp on purpose. IT just happens that the crater is also near the beach camp. Could the C be for where the camp site of our LOSTIES is at? It also looks to me that off by Dan's right hand is something that reads 8 with the degree symbol? The map is def. a hand sketch from possibly someone who visited the island ealier. Say... HENRY GALE! Ohhh......

its probably just a map created from satellites. The only thing on it is mountains. no detail
