What's Hot: LOST: Survivor
The following was submitted by SWLS reader, Joshua Wilson:
Due to a recorder malfunction, I was not able to watch last night's episode of LOST, but I had read your post of the official blurb from ABC earlier in the day. It lists "Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus" among the credits. Since I couldn't watch the new episode of LOST, I did the next best thing and picked up the season 3 DVD and re-watched an episode. We watched the episode "Expose", and by sheer coincidence I decided to freeze frame on the shot of Nikki's Expose script where the cast is listed. What do you know, but there is another guy with the last name "Lapidus" listed as an actor for that episode of "Expose"! I suspect it's just a reuse of an interesting name by the show creators, but you never know what connections there are in the LOST universe. Incidentally, Lapidus means "candle," or "torch" according to Wikipedia. Reminds me of "Marvin Candle".
Good catch, Josh! The wiki entry also states: Lapidus is a Jewish family name derived from the Hebrew biblical male given name Lapidot, husband of the prophetess Deborah (Judges 4:4). The literal meaning of the name is "torches" or "candles". Similar Jewish family names include Lapidas, Lapides, Lepidus, Lapidot and Lapidoth.
Distinguished 20th-century bearers of the name Lapidus include the Russian-born American architect Morris Lapidus, and the Russian-born American surgeon and educator Paul W. Lapidus as well as orientalist Ira M. Lapidus, the Washington, D.C. metro area trial attorney (Lawrence S. "Larry" Lapidus ) the "father of military packaging" (Herbert M. Lapidus ) NIH pediatric rhematology fellow (Sivia K.Lapidus, M.D.), French fashion designer Ted Lapidus, Israeli journalist and politician Yosef Lapid.

weird
I'm more intrested in Billy D. Williams being listed on the script.
" Gimmie a Colt 45 "
Hoorah for Joshua Wilson! Nice snag.
Wow great pickup Josh! That's really cool Warthog. That's that synchronicity. Could be a total coincidence but I think every thing is linked. Who knows what kind of picture would be revealed if all the dots in life were connected.
You think that is strange... Check this out.
I run a team building business and one of our events is essentially a scavenger hunt. One of the very first scavenger hunts we ever produced was in New Jersey. It was at the Ocean Place conference resort. I remember it because it was our first, this was 2004 I believe. So as one of our scavenger hunt puzzles, we had the teams find a plaque that had several names on it and find the correct name somehow or other, I forget the specifics, but the correct name was Lapidus. Ever since then, we've used the word "Lapidus" as a code word in our scavenger hunts whenever we needed a code word. Sort of a little tradition from that first hunt. So it was amazingly bizarre when I first saw the character name Lapidus in Find815. If anyone lives near there, the plaque was just outside the resort on the North end along the boardwalk. I completely forget who it referred to.
Leslie Lapidus is a character in William Styron's Sophie's Choice. She is a girl discovering her sexuality through language, but not by action.
Well, you have to admit; Nikki was kinda hot.
Good catch. Most puzzling though - why would you choose to watch a Paulo and Nikki centric epi? rsrsrsrs;)
I wouldn't imagine Lapidus being a very common name. Great pick up Josh.
