In 4x01 Hurley stumbles across Jacob's ladder... I mean, Cabin. Upon looking through the window he sees what we'd assume was Jacob sitting in the chair. However, the shadowy figure in the chair looks an awful lot like Christian Shepard this time around. Couldn't be, could it? If it's Jacob, why is he sitting in a broke down cabin in the middle of a psychotic fantasy island in a suit and tie... and sneakers? Judge for yourself and let us know your thoughts. Nice shoes, Chrisob.

Whoever is sitting in that chair is wearing the same tie as Jack's dad in the link mentioned by sylvestk (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Image:The_vision_of_Christian.jpg), the blue tie with the diagonal white stripes. I'd say that's pretty darn convincing.
Yeah, we need the sould clips of the whispering for sure...I think it's Christian, but that he's not alive, or at least, no more alive than any of the other ghosts on the island.
I was adamant about the fact that Jack's dad would not be back on the show, but even I have to admit that it looks like Christian. I think they even list him in the credits of the show as a special guest star.
I didn't see a post on it, but as Hurley starts to freak out and realize he is lost, there are some whispering voices. Can anyone make out what the voices are saying? It sounds like Spanish, but I can't make it out.
Jacob/Christian played by the actor who plays Christian.

its got to be jacks dad, hes wearing the same shoes he was wearing on the last mobisode where hes talking to the dog. take a look at it, and isnt it the same shoe that was hanging by the branch in the first episode "pilot" when jack wakes up and starts running.

I don't think it's Jack's Dad... the nose is too distinct. Look at the profile shot of Christian here:

It really looks like Christian. That doesn't mean he's alive tho. Smokey and Jacob have got some mad skills
If you download the trailor for the season from iTunes, and scan through the images of it, there is a flash of a similar image to this (at about 1:02 into it), and it VERY clearly looks like Christian Shepherd.
Although I will agree that the first image we saw of Jacob looked a lot like Locke.
well it CAN'T be Jacks dad, I believe the producers/writers "confirmed" he was dead and no longer a character on the show. Of course, those guys aren't to be trusted with ANYhing they say!I thought at first Locke was in the cabin with Jacob. He knew Ben had tried to kill him because he heard Jacob. Locke went back to the cabin to see what was going on and was talking to Jacob when Hurley showed up
Yeah it definitely looked like Jack's dad to me to. espescially when i paused it and played it back in slo mo :)
I always suspected that since the first appearance of Jacob. Even though when Locke first saw Jacob he appeared to look like Locke (at least to me) I thought when he said "help me" he sounded a lot like Christian.
Agreed! On first pass, I immediately thought, "That's the shape of Jack's dad's head!"
The white shoes could be the tie in. The producers origionally had no purpose for them in season 1, but now they have something to play with.
