4x01: Dharma Shark on Chalkboard?

4x01 Dharma Shark on Chalkboard Hurley opts to be readmitted to Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute in 4x01, "The Beginning of the End". Ahh, yes... the circle is complete. Does it make the show a little bit of a downer to know they are all going to all end up sad and depressed in the future? Hurley is attempting to relive island life, perhaps, with some serious chalkboard art. In the background, we see a chalkboard with what appears to be an island scene drawn on it. There is also a raft, and a shark! Maybe, it's Dharmy the Sharky! Is Hugo recreating the adventures of the rafters from Season 1?

col81-yeah, that's the swan. The sun in the chalkboard drawing is deffinitely the sun from the mural in the swan.

it kind of looks like the art that was on the wall of the swan... wait, was it the swan? i got my hatches mixed up. The one with the button.

We don't know that Hurley drew that. I personally don't think he did, because he tends to have bad reactions to the island now that he's in the real world.

hurley is not allowed to tell what happened, but maybe he was drawing it out because he couldn't keep it all bottled up. that's what drove him back to the institute, the island is in his head

I didn't see any kind of morph.

I'll have to watch it again to see if Richard appears as mentioned below. That would be cool if he did

I think you're assuming too much to say "they are all going to all end up sad and depressed in the future." These may be flash forwards, but who is to say that there isn't even more storyline in the future to these visions? Perhaps after this "depressing" future, they return to the island.

Not only the shark, but the entire drawing. From the tree to the waves.

'Dharmy' the shark? Pfft, everyone knows his name's Ezra James Sharkington :)

hey I could be wrong but did anyone see the Oceanic representative change into Richard Alpert as he was yelling at Hurley? I thought I saw him "morph" for lack of a better word, as it cut to a close up of his face and I thought I saw Richard from the Others...

It reminded me about what "it" is that wants them back on the island...namely the island itself. Anyway, its crazy to imagine the island being powerful enough to affect the Losties back in the *real* world but that does seem to be the case.

Did I see wrong?

Umm...I don't see any Dharma symbol. I wonder if Hugo drew it, though...
